Could you let us know how you get on with the Covid side of things such as if they let you create an ID for the app or if you have to carry around a test certificate all and every day? I did a bit of research and seems you cant have a digital ID unless you're Dutch. Got a trip planned in Nov.
I almost didn’t get on the flight.
The changes allowing travel for leisure, more than a week old, had not been updated on the system used by check in staff.
Cue 20 mins of arguing and jumping through hoops.
30mins in the non-EU passport control queue at Schiphol.
Immigration agent just asked if I was fully vaccinated, didn’t ask for the proof.
He couldn’t resist having a dig, ‘How long will you be staying in Europe?’, as he stamped my passport.
The UK have yet to participate in the EU vaccination certificate program.
Therefore the Dutch CoronaCheck App. won’t recognise UK vaccine status.
To get in ANYWHERE you need to show a QR code on the App.
Restaurants, bars, cinema, anything indoors.
You can go to Albert Heijn or takeaway food places without the QR code.
I was checked in EVERY restaurant, EVERY bar and EVERY coffeeshop.
The only solution until we take part in the program is to get tested EVERYDAY.
You can download the App. and create an account.
Testen Voor Toegang (Test for access) appointments can be made through the App. and it’s free.
In Amsterdam, test sites are easy to reach and you are in and out in ~5mins.
Not so easy when I was in The Hague. I had to jump on the train 10-20mins out of the city each time, but never more than a 10min walk from the train station.
You get a text telling you the result is available and an email with a link.
They say ~2 hours, but it was always less than 30mins.
The link get’s you a code that you can upload to the App. and generate a QR code that’s then good for 24 hours.
Coming back, after you go to the check in desk to get your boarding pass, you need to go to gate D8.
Here they check your docs. Have you created a PLF, etc.
They put a sticker on the back of your boarding pass and stamp your passport.
When I landed in Edinburgh, I went through the e-gates as usual.
