The fairy platinum dish wash tablet ads “the not on my watch” man is annoying but the black lady at the beginning is quite tasty for an older lady

I wouldn't say "older".

There's an ad on the moment (can't remember what for) with a couple and he's prob 30s and she's around 50 and black. I noticed the age gap but then thought I probably wouldn't mind a go.

Yeah, as if a public toilet would use that sort of bog roll. They always have that cheap stuff that you pull out one square at a time. How on earth are you supposed to wipe your bum on one tiny little square.  You're there for ages pulling out about 50 of them  :dash:

Do the adverts say it's French?

Offline Jerboa

Do the adverts say it's French?

They use French language, in there adverts for 25 years.

The UK television advertising campaigns became known for their distinctive style of imitating European cinema and their leitmotiv inspired by Giuseppe Verdi's La forza del destino. The campaigns began with a series of advertisements based on the 1986 French film Jean de Florette, directed by the British duo Anthea Benton and Vaughan Arnell, moving on to other genres, including war films, silent comedy and surrealism. They have used notable film directors such as Jonathan Glazer. Furthermore, the brand makes extensive use of the French language in its advertising campaigns, even though the beer brand originates from the monolingual Dutch-speaking city of Leuven. An example of this can be seen in the advertising campaign for Stella Artois Cidre, in which the tag-line "C'est cidre, not cider" is used, although this cider is produced in Zonhoven, which also lies in the Dutch-speaking Flemish Region.

adverts that are aimed at idiots
like the current AA ad where he puts petrol in a diesel car; makes me think how much cheaper AA membership would be if they didnt have to support idiots like that

i'm pretty sure that the likes of the AA rock up & then pass fucktards like these across to companies who will empty the tank for a fee, bollox to what the adverts show
[a bit like massage burds  :yahoo:]

one of the rising call out reasons [& hence cost] is punctures caused by pot holes
Hassle to make a claim through the local council / highways agency however worth doing so when swamped with compo claims they eventually might think cheaper to repair the roads
If for no other reason do this as its a ball ache on your journey + dangerous for cyclists those on motor bikes & most likely drivers of diddy EVs where skinny tyres & wheels

When having had a puncture i've called the AA
They've asked me do i have a jack in the car, answer = yes
They suggested that i could change the wheel myself
My reply was if i was in the arse end of nowhere & no recovery for hours i might give it a go
On a 4*4 weighing 2 tonnes with a flimsy jack fuck that for a game of ...
I told them that i'd phone round local recovery companies offer to pay a kings ransom
& then send them the bill, they dont pay see them in Court
Funnily enuf that changed their approach & i waited an hour and a half

Nearly forgot the likes of the AA & RAC also get called out to EV drivers who have run out of lekky & are nowhere near somewhere to charge
Serves them right, i hope it take hours to get a van to them

There could be a whole thread about the Jaguar one, couldn't there. External Link/Members Only

Blokes like me buy Jags, [no I don't own one, had one once] so they've thought, he's white straight and over 40, let's get rid of our customer base and get millions of likes on Twatter and Instabolox etc., because that's much better than anyone actually buying our cars.

Yeah it's a totally shit advert, I actually thought it was for some clothing brand when I 1st saw it

I know Lord Sugar has moaned in years gone by about adverts which don't feature the product or say what it's actually advertising, at least this one does say Jaguar however they've changed the logo and it looks totally shit, no sign of a big cat anymore.

Microsoft Co-Pilot computers – not a TV advert but this one keeps repeating on the podcasts I listen to and I can’t bear the “Multicultural London English” accent adopted by the actor who does the voice. I owned one quite similar to this:
Hidden Image/Members Only
A mark 1, as seen in Endeavour and more stylish than Morse's mark 2, although less reliable. I was usually unwilling to get inside it though, in case it got dirty. Opposite of a woman. I was worried about it breaking down and the general public standing there enjoying watching me get towed. Very nice to park at the golf club next to those company Audis and BMWs that all look the same.

Imagine anything that wonderful being made in Britain now.

I think instead of changing their image they should focus on the reliability issues or both Jaguar and Land Rover. If theyv have made some really nice looking cars in the last few years but are not up to the quality of the prestige car companies.
That being said I did see something about them aiming away from the prestige market with cheaper cars. But if you can't attain reliability charging a lot how will you do it charging a lot less?

Sure I saw someone refer to them after the Indian takeover as being TAT rather than TATA

I did know a guy who owned various British cars over the years ranging from MG's; Austins; Rovers and Jags and he said the thought of Jaguar making an all electric car filled him with horror as the electrics appeared to be the most unreliable thing about them  :scare:
I do remember seeing an MG BGT with smoke piling out of the dashboard about 40 years ago and the driver was talking to someone on the pavement saying it was the wiring loom (again)

As an aside some Mercedes models suddenly became cheap about 30-35 years ago and you could buy what looked like a prestige car (or at least from the badge) for the same money as a Ford Mondeo type car or whatever their model was back then.

People rushed out to buy them but were soon disappointed as the reliability wasn't up to Mercedes standard, not sure where they were being made exactly but somewhere in Eastern Europe

Like you say reliability isn't going to get any better from being made cheaper

Well we may find out tomorrow what Jaguar are about with this campaign.

Gerry McGovern has walked on water as JLR design guru for many years, so I wouldn't write his idea off before seeing tomorrow's reveal.

And the Jag advert has worked fantastically if the idea was to get people talking about Jaguar. Buzz in the media has been off the scale for a car company announcement.

Same rag now thinks the pink car is a design triumph.

Quote from: Andrew English writing in the Daily Telegraph
Controversial, yes – but the pink Jaguar EV is a design triumph

Harry Metcalfe (Evo founder) also says it is a wow moment when you see it for the first time.

I'll reserve judgement until I see a production car on the street - which is at least two years from now.

Jag spent 20 years trying to compete with the Germans in the volume premium segment, and failed. So now they plan to move upmarket into low volume high profit.

Sister company Land Rover has done this very successfully. They recently posted a billion pound profit in six months of trading. New Defender and Range Rover were similarly controversial when first appeared but have been big money earners for JLR.

I guess they just need to cross sell some Range Rover customers over to these new style Jags - there will be three models - and job done.
