I suspect you're right.

I get a few meds on prescription from the GP, including viagra. That's why this interested me.
I could ask next time I need an appoinment, if I could get the viagra taken off the printed history list,
but I'm not that dedicated to the OP's cause and after this thread, I think the answer would be in the negative.

Besides, I don't live with a woman (as I like peace and I like sex) so It's not a prob for me.

Personally I think you guys are over thinking it some .
Whilst its on your record and rightly so imho, so anyone medical has the full picture / history who officially and legally needs to.
But if you need to see the Dr hes not going to suddenly blurt out to your misses - Oh his Viagra doesnt help his XXXXX conditon. It would be more along the lines of 'existing medication may be reviewed............' type things.

Obviously though as always, best to be safe than sorry, and take as many precautions as you see fit for your circumstances.

Thanks for the recent replies and I was in touch with the Doctor by phone and explained that I did not want my viagra prescription shown on the prescription form that comes with other medication collected at a different time.

I said I would not want my daughter picking up my prescription with the viagra blazoned in my medical history part of the prescription which was pinned to the outside of the bag.

Anyway she was very helpful and said she would remove the viagra from my repeat prescription and it will not show up on future collections of other pills.
I thought I would be going back to buying them over the counter but she said I could just phone up the prescription line when I wanted some and any doctor can supply them without it showing with other stuff but must ordered at a separate time to any other items .She did give it a term but I cant remember it ( it was a small word beginning with A )

She also rang back to say the chemist will try and put them in a non see through bag or something like that.

Anyway time will tell so lets hope it works.

Sorry I’m confused ( again) are prescriptions for ED such as Ciallis and Viagra free for all over 60’s or do you need to have an additional relevant condition as well ? TIA

You need to have a condition diagnosed by your doctor before any NHS prescription is issued and all NHS prescriptions are free for over 60s. Having said that they have to take your word that you do have ED, it isn't a thing they can check.

Since 2014 generic Sildenafil can be prescribed on NHS prescription for anyone. You may find the pharmacist will actually dispense the branded Viagra, but this would normally be a generic.

All other ED meds can only be prescribed on NHS prescription if you also have a specific medical condition.

A GP can prescribe them on a private prescription though.

The NHS per item charge will apply on all NHS prescriptions and of course if you are exempt from charges (eg over 60) it will be free. Private prescription dispensing charges will vary.

One of the nurses at the surgery I attend is so sexy it's unreal. And when she takes my blood pressure, my hand rests against her breast. not majorly, but she places it there. I have made a couple of comments - trying not to be lewd or sexist - about my blood pressure being high because of her. She would certainly be a test of ED for sure  :D

That is probably no longer best practice. My pharmacy places the repeat list inside the bag(s). A computer generated and printed adhesive ticket with the name and address only is used on the outside of the bag.

Thats exactly what they do when I pick mine up, but recently the assistant has been opening the sealed bag to check that all the items ordered are indeed in the bag then that open bag is handed to me once I have confirmed my address

Offline spartacusf

As others have said, the pharmacist should not staple it to the outside - mine doesn't.  If they won't change then just switch pharmacy.

Guys, you can get Viagra over the counter now at places like Boots. No need for a Doctor or GP or anything. It's pretty much the same as getting Paracetamol.

Of course, you have to fill out a form but it doesn't ask anything too intrusive. Didn't ask for my address or anything. Not even sure if they asked for a phone number but you can always just put your punting one.

After you fill it out, they give you a little slip of paper so whenever you need a refill, you just show that so you don't have to fill out the whole form again.

I don't think they have any way to verify the information on the form (Since there was no wait time, no need to show ID or a NI number) so you could probably just lie about what your name is.

I normally grab a packet from a Boots or Tescos when I'm at least an hours drive from home (So no one sees me). Haven't really need it as much in recent times but the extra boost is nice.

Also available in ASDA .. up to the 50 mg tabs  that is, 100 's only with prescritption:(..

Guys its free on prescription.
I get 4 tablets per month which is equivalent of 4 to 5 x 1/2 hour free punts per year as opposed to the less anonymous purchase over the counter.

If I can remember far enough back I'm sure your OP was as much about the pharmacy's indiscretion when collecting the prescription as the fact it was listed with your other repeat prescription meds.

I've just changed the pharmacy I use, the old one stapled the prescription to the bag, the new one just seals the bag with a label that only has my name and address on.

Offline Jimmy83

I'm finding it a bit difficult to understand how it's more anonymous getting it from the doctors than just buying it over the counter where you don't have to give any legitimate details?

I'd rather pay the few quid needed to stay anonymous than have something like that on my file with my GP.

Yes you are right but I did make some progress with Doctor ( reply 102 ) who now does not show it in the history when picking up other prescriptions and I have picked one up since with success on that front.

Sorry Its a play on words after reading it again and I do mean buying over the counter is the best method for anonymity than prescription.

I was pondering on the prescription for viagra for such a while, I get mine from boots, due to the probs you initially had I chose to pay over the counter, the form you fill in has all the wrong answers greyed out so if you hit anything they want to talk to you about they will, so I kept it by the book with my answers, especially regarding my heart medication (yeah not too clever but hey), the ticket they give you is for 6 months, I didn’t give my correct contact details and it’s very easy to sign up at another boots every six months or return to the same, they don’t recognise you or ask for id
I pay about £35 for 8 tablets, though I find I only need to use half a tablet at a time giving me 16 goes for the money.

Offline Nagilum

This is why I order from Dr Fox. I have gone to Lloyds in the past when I purchased it online and I know you can but it from Boots, but I prefer maximum discretion.

The generic form of Viagra tablets is now available as Sildenafil Tablets which can also be prescribed on presription by the GP on the NHS.
They have the same active ingredient as the Viagra tablets and are equivalent to them. The generic tablets can be made by different Companies and are likely to be white and not blue like Viagra tablets manufactured by Pfizer.
I suggest you ask your GP to prescribe the Sildenafil tablets instead of Viagra  so that the latter name won't appear on your prescriptions and will be replaced by Sildenafil. Under these circumstances it is likely that your wife won't realise what they are if she happens to see a prescription.

It is Sildenafil on the prescription but as i said in an earlier post-If the wife does not recognise the name she would be in no doubt after reading' take before sexual activity' worded below it.

Offline oldcodgerbill

There is no need for that wording to be on the prescription itself.
Suggest you ask your surgery/GP to change the wording to "One to be taken as directed"

I've just got back from Asda after collecting some ED meds. Last time I used them (a good while before first lockdown) it was £16 for 16 tablets of generic Sildenafil or Cialis (I forget which) but the only option at Asda now is Viagra "Connect".

So there's no longer any lengthy consultation needed, just complete the form and hand it over, they give you back a stamped slip from the bottom to use in future.

But at almost a fiver a tablet, max 8 tablets (though perhaps I could have bought 2 boxes), it is a shocking price gouge. Now I think I may have been undercharged on that previous purchase as it did seem incredibly cheap, but a fiver a tablet is bloody steep.

Offline mh

Has anyone tried numan.com? They advertise heavily on Sky. I had a look and it seems to be a subscription model.

e.g. Sildenafil "Monthly":
8    £25 - first month £10.00
12  £33 - first month £13.20
16  £40 - first month £16.00
20  £48 - first month £19.20

Viagra Connect 8 tablets £88!! First month £48.

So a bit of a con for real Viagra but good value for the generic if you use a lot every month...

Yeah; me too. I've been a bit greedy and kept putting in my repeat prescription request so I'm gonna have to do a serious amount of shagging when the All-Clear sounds. Fortunately, they've all got 'Best by' dates of this year or next year!

Seriously, I have been getting sildenafil from Superdrug online, and they always send me Viagra rather than the generic version for no extra cost, not sure why (when Viagra is advertised as twice the price).
