Sadly I think he is as much to blame as her for this sorry saga.No doubt they have a hugely expensive lifestyle so are looking to maximize any earnings in the short space of time available before they piss everybody off.
He's already alienated the UK public and is starting to put his foot in it with the US public so I doubt that will be long.

I'm just bored with his "pity poor me" stance. (As someone posted elsewhere "I just sat in that huge palace and cried, and not one of the servants tried to help")

I'd pay a Queen's ransom for them to shut up and go away as well.

Got to agree with you, people who take an interest in the royal families private life and comment on it although it is important have something missing from their life.

So does anyone else think the naming of the sprog is anything other than provocative?

My first thought is that the name is provocative.  Other interpretations are of course possible, but that was my first thought

It's very on brand and guarantees the whole enterprise interest for years to come.  Poor kid.

Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is not too bad when compared to Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, or Harper Seven of the pass the sick buckets Beckhams.  :)

Had it been Breonna or Kamala I'd have agreed but this could be seen as an olive branch. Not cutting ties etc.

Or maybe more likely a "Go on then, I dare you to rip into me and my wife for honouring my mother and grandmother when naming my daughter..."

Question is, did they inform/ask the Queen first or did she find out from the media?

Just a small hunch but I'm guessing it went back and forth over the Atlantic through a number of courtiers and press officers etc.

Convention is that the sovereign has to sign off on the names, so the former.

Despite everything else, they are still family. My brother does all of our heads in with his silly shenanigans but he's still family.

(Although I tell him he's adopted and we all hate him)

I'm the errant one in that particular equation.

That name will make that girl hate her parents as she gets older.

Lili? Seems fine to me. Better than Petal Blossom Rainbow or Daisy Boo...!

If she were going to a state comprehensive, perhaps.  But in the kind of school she is likely to be going to, and the children she is likely to be mixing with, I doubt it.  As others have pointed out, her name is relatively sane compared to other celebrity children.

And an American born princess. How marketable is that?

We nearly had an American born Queen once.

Not to mention the Rt Hon. Boris Johnson MP, born in New York City.

Someone said on the radio this morning she could be a future Queen of England or a future president of the USA ( not at the same time though  :D ).

My internet home page shows headlines from a number of news sources and literally every day there is a story about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on there. It is either a story about them moving to a new mansion, them telling everyone what to do, or suing someone. They tweeted yesterday condemning the Russia invasion and said they "encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same". This was tweeted yesterday when my take on things was that the global community had already condemned the invasion a whole 24 hours earlier. And even if they hadn't I don't see why people should listen to Harry and Meghan.

They seem to be just a PR machine now and in the famous for being famous category. They want the fame, the respect and the money but not done much to deserve it. Harry did a webcast asking people to look after their mental health and I just thought "fuck off" given he too part in an interview on television slagging off his own family which must not cause a lot of stress and hurt. They also complained about lack of privacy but crave the spotlight when it suits them.

I may be preaching to the choir here. I feel I'm a bit late to the anti-Harry party. I was routing for them as Harry seemed a normalish bloke who wanted to do his own thing. I now think he's a bit of a narcisist that uses his position to deliver on his own needs but also hurl shit at people he doesn't like.

Mine doesn't.  What it shows is based on what kind of things you look at.

They have to keep themselves in the spotlights, as it is the only way they have of making money.
