I know one of my relatives punted for years. His wife is quite open about it saying it happened up until they met. As for me, no one knows and thats how I want to keep it. Although my neighbours might guess.

Don't tell anyone I punt.

On the flip side, I found my mates mums escorting profile on AW.

Roughly about 8 years ago this mate of mine had some silly argument with his best friend.  The best friend told me at the time how our friends mother is regularly cheating on her boyfriend, had access to some premises where she was meeting men for sex and performing all kinds of sex acts on her webcam.  He never mentioned she was an escort or that she was doing it for money.

A few months ago I came across her AW profile.

She's not my type at all and has ticked some rather disgusting activities in her likes list.

Nobody but I'm single, independent and solvent so it wouldn't matter if they did.

As Hp would say, "Link, please"! ;)

Apart from the WGs I see, the only people who know I punt are former Regulars who are now retired but with whom I'm still in touch; and the husband of one of them, who'd been another of her clients.  She retired as soon as they moved in together.

Before she retired, she once came with me to a meal with my mates [almost all aged at least late-50s] and their wives before we were the first to leave to go on an Overnight at a nearby hotel. :yahoo:  The late Mrs R L, whom all the lads and most of their wives knew, had passed on about 4 years before [I didn't start punting until just over 18 months later] and when we were arranging the meal, I'd told the lads that I'd started "seeing" this lass [who was quite a bit younger than their wives and by a country mile, the most attractive woman round our table that evening :P].

I, erm, "forgot" to tell them how we'd met, or just how much of her I was seeing! ;)

Very true yet probably loads of the people who would judge would do the same, and I dare say if you just went and announced it the scandal would last minutes.

No-one.  I am free and single, and there are one or two people I could probably trust with the info, but I would still rather it wasn't known.

Offline Clicktocollect

A friend from work years ago. He had been working on a big project abroad and there was a rumour he had expensed more than one or two working girls.

We got drunk one night and he recounted his adventures; both the infamous expense story and his regular punting fun.

It was great to be able to compare stories with someone in a similar situation and we regularly got together to discuss our latest escapades.

That lasted about a year before we both moved to new situations.

I suppose UKP is the next best thing but you can't beat talking about punting over a pint.

To those of you that have multiple family members/friends that know...

what is their general consensus on your hobby? Do they look on it with approval, distaste, or indifference? Did they take a while to come to terms with it, try to convince you to stop, etc. I can't see it as being info a non-punter can come to terms with in an instant

No-one, except the WG's, and I take care to make sure they don't know who I am.

The shame that is imposed on you if you get found out is awful and can completely screw up your life, and I've seen it happen. It happened to a work colleague once and he got fired. The IT dept found cookies on his desktop and investigated him and discovered he'd been to a prostitute and they fired him on the spot. He just disappeared from the office one day and a guy from IT told me all about it a few weeks after. He wasn't a close friend, but I do know his wife left him and he lost his home etc. He'd been married a long time, but they'd had a rocky relationship and it's all the excuse she needed and she took him to the cleaners. He'd been quite a popular guy at work, but everyone turned on him and he was the biggest arsehole going when it came out.

By chance I once got to know a girl who turned out to be a WG who I thought at one stage I might tell her. But after hearing a bit about her experiences I decided not to, and that turned out to be one of my better decisions. She holds all her clients in such contempt that I just couldn't. If you can't confide with someone in the business then you can't tell anyone. People would laugh at you behind your back and lose all respect for you. You have to be always on your guard.

Approval, however I don't go into details any more than I would expect anyone to discuss with me what they get up to with partners in the bedroom. Occasionally people ask questions which I answer in general terms and maybe show them AW. What shocks them most is the prices vs quality and the variety on offer.

Many years ago, I admitted to a work pal that I had been with a girl in Amsterdam. He knew my wife (at the time) and clearly didn't approve. He kept the secret though and it was never mentioned.

Since then I have told no-one at all. And that's the way it will be staying.

Ditto. I would confidently justify it, due to my own personal circumstances, if someone did find out, but I think 90% of the general square populace would think its very bad form. As long as I can justify it to myself (which I can), I really don't care about the views of others. You only live once.

Is it really something that you can be fired for?  I mean, considering it does't actually break any laws, I find it a bit hard to see how it's legal to do it, unless it was more a case of him being 'asked to hand in his resignation'?

Same, I think I would be able to make a good case to justify it, but most people have completely the wrong idea about punting and have all kinds of assumptions based on stereotypes and believing what they see on TV, that it's hard to shake those and most people would leap to conclusions.  I've had a few 'theoretical' debates about the principles of prostitution, and it's always really difficult not to respond to ignorant comments with 'well that's not my experience of it' or something similar.

I don't know the technical details of the case. But it's not difficult to fire someone for something like that, and they'd stand little chance of succeeding in a claim of unfair dismissal (how many have you heard of?). They might have got him on something like doing it when he was supposedly visiting a customer (he was a salesman).

Prostitution - or accusations of having visited a prostitute or two - is commonly used in divorce courts. Men can never successfully deny they have not done so because no-one ever believes them once they are accused. Throw enough shit and some of it will stick. I remember after the incident I described that some of the women in his department said that it sent shivers up their spine (or words to that effect) that they had shared the same office as someone like that. Yet I remember he was quite popular with all of them before that. Such strangely ignorant and bigoted people. It was as though he had raped some girl, although in their minds probably there was little difference. Anyway, it's a warning for others to take heed of what can happen. Most of the general public are not at all tolerant of prostitution. Some of them find it titillating until it's on their doorstep, but then they become very hostile.

I seriously doubt he was fired for that reason. I expect he viewed AW or what ever the site the prossie was on. Which contained adult material and they did him for gross misconduct on that basis. As you said he may well have lied that he was with a client (rather than the other way around) So they didnt nail him for fucking a whore as such.

Take that as warning to those that visit UK Punting on work computers/phones

All supposition. You weren't there, I was.

Yes they did - albeit dressed up in another form. The point is, that was the reason/excuse. He happened to be currently at that time the most successful (i.e. bringing in the most revenue) salesman in the organisation, which then took a nosedive in the months following.

Take that as warning to those that visit UK Punting on work computers/phones

Absolute bollocks.    :dash: :dash:

He would have been sacked for using the company computer to access inappropriate sites.

It is not illegal to visit a prostitute, he could have sued them for unfair dismissal.   :hi:

Quite right, it is the use of the computer that screw him, could have been a porn site and he still would have got caught and fired.

You're the one who's absolute bollocks. Pontificating endlessly about things of which you know absolutely nothing.

He was fired because the MD ♀ did not want anyone in the organisation associated with prostitution - end of. If you can't get that into your thick head at least stop barging in with inane and stupid comments that have no relevance.

I'd like to hear of a successful action brought by someone claiming unfair dismissal when they were caught seeing prostitutes and then sacked. Just one, Mr clever dick Cab. Bet you can't manage to find one.
