Saw this earlier this year on the BBC and it's just been advertised to be shown again on the BBC News channel tonight at 7.30 alternatively it's on the I player and well worth a watch
Great story which was never common knowledge about how a 13 year old girl Hazel Hill who was good at maths helped her dad persuade the authorities that the Spitfire needed 6 guns not 4 to be effective.
All kept secret as it was hard enough to convince the stuffy old school brigade to change their mind on something which had already been decided (presumably plucked out of the air by someone who guessed), however if it had been known that it was not only a school kid but a girl then no doubt it wouldn't have been adopted.
