  Whilst I cannot deny an addiction .. the main reason is t'internet security. The computer boldly goes where most devices shouldn't. There is nothing else on it should a virus/malware get through.

The antivirus installed is forever blocking threats which if you surf porn on the internet you can encounter in great quantities. If something gets through there is little to 'steal', so I can relax and surf away

Good they had child porn and you could easily find it if you knew how to search correctly. It's a huge exploit available on online pornography because they don't verify ages, IDs and so becomes harvesting nest for illegal content

Yeah I noticed that as well. I think this could be to onlyfans being a thing in 2020 and maybe they want to go head to head against their competition. That said people can still download porn videos from porn hub converter sites like this External Link/Members Only. That said porn hub been not that good and other sites like Xhamster and my favorite Spankbang (were I got many regular films and TV shows from) are far better.

Same as you I had a couple of those in my early days on Xhamster. Rebooted and ran a full scan etc. got rid of the problem.

OK, so there are probably 3 different types of 'attack' being described - yep, you would indeed get these more if you visited porn sites, because they didn't police their adverts and it was usually through the ads that PCs were compromised. But in most cases it was a benign popup and you only had to close the window without clicking on anything. Of course they put up a big button saying 'click here to close' and people would click! Then you're off down the rabbit hole. The second level would be a task that hooked itself in to the operating system which took a bit of faffing about to remove. A true ransomware attack is where an unpatched vulnerability is exploited to encrypt the whole PC and only decrypt after payment. That's a trash the disk and start again situation. Keep regular backups everyone!

But all of the above can be avoided with an OS that is in support (ie not Win 7 now), all patches up to date and active anti-virus, whether built-in or third party. Also not running your standard login account with system admin privileges. I've visited porn sites galore for decades and only once had the level 2 situation above where it took 20 minutes to reverse. My kids' PCs got hit several times. Porn sites were blocked for their PCs at both the PC itself and at the firewall and I tracked the injection every time to sodding free games sites, nothing to do with porn! Had to fix my sister's PC once and that was some share dealing site that got her.

Well that is interesting. Though I am surprised they are targeting only Pornhub instead of the other hub sites. I did see somewhere that porn hub has been doing a great job of getting rid of child porn content compared to social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Funny as Pornhub has far fewer moderators than those sites yet those social media sites are struggling to reduce the amount of "unverfiied content" on their sites to porn hub numbers (but happy to moderate "hate Speech" comments).

After the report both Visa and Mastercard, whose online payment systems were used by MindGeek to charge subscribers, pulled their services. Pornhub later removed more than 10 million videos of the 13.5 million it hosted. The site suspended all videos that were not uploaded by its “content partners” and claimed this was more action than Facebook, Tik Tok or Instagram had taken to prevent illegal material being uploaded to their sites.

In a blog post, Pornhub claimed it was being targeted by organisations dedicated to abolishing pornography and commercial sex work.

Thank you for the post. If organisations try to go to war with online porn to abolish it, I think that porn will just likely end up part of the darknet, where they'll have no control over what goes on. I reckon that would be worse than how it is now.

You are right about war between "the powers that be" and the "woke feminists" (well the ones that are about slut walk and are not feminists that are pissed that women are having sex). I read an article that first thing porn content creators that were verified were more concerned about was how much money they would lose. Instead of saying how well porn hub is doing a great job of cutting down on the child porn shit or how bad this is affecting non-verified members which is very telling. But yeah while I hate it that most of the porn is gone, I do think porn hub is doing great with getting ride of that child porn shit.

A man who sued his parents for getting rid of his pornography collection has won a lawsuit in western Michigan and can seek compensation.

The US district judge Paul Maloney ruled in favour of David Werking, who said his parents had no right to throw out his collection. He lived at their Grand Haven home for 10 months after a divorce before moving to Muncie, Indiana.

Werking said boxes of films and magazines worth an estimated $29,000 (£21,500) were missing.

“There is no question that the destroyed property was David’s property,” Maloney said. “Defendants repeatedly admitted that they destroyed the property.”

Werking’s parents said they had a right to act as his landlords. “Defendants do not cite to any statute or caselaw to support their assertion that landlords can destroy property that they dislike,” the judge said.

Maloney told both sides to file briefs on the financial value of the collection. “The court does not intend to hold an evidentiary hearing,“ he said.
