Yeah she confronted me about it this morning face to face, caught me off guard and obviously initial reaction was to deny knowledge of it. I said id contact uber about it. Ive asked them to change payment method so hopefully that goes away.
OK, I have a possible solution. But you'll have to be a good liar to sound plausible. It will also cover the fact that you lied and said you hadn't used an Uber on the day in question.
Although you say this is a joint bank account? Hmmm...makes it trickier.
Well what I was going to say is this: a couple of years ago a genuinely bogus payment appeared on my debit card, for a Deliveroo meal. I phoned my bank and told them it was total bollocks (it was, I've never used them even to this day). Somehow, someone got hold of my card details and had used them to get a free meal off me.
I got my money back (and I got sent a new card), but more importantly for you, if you managed to pull it off you could deny having taken that cab trip.
Depending on how good a liar you are, and whether your missus decides to contact Uber for herself, perhaps it might work? I guess if she did pursue the Uber thing, she might find out where your journey started, and if it started from your house you are Royally fucked.
