There's a lot more where that came from.

All because somebody doesn't understand context and thought that I called him a fucking idiot and my refusal to be demonised. I actually find it rather endearing though.  I'll never report anyone for calling me a cunt.
Perhaps it's time for winkywanky to calm down and reign it in a bit, If these instances were reported I'm not sure what action would have to be taken. A ban is always a possibility, be that short term or permanent.

I'm curious how this doesn't break rule #23.  And I'm not making a specific dig at you WW, but if you were a member with fuck all reviews and very few topic posts - and not a prolific member of long standing - wouldn't you be banned for this? Or at least given a warning?  I've seen some nasty behaviour from a few members, but it seems only some people land on the wrong side of mods/admin and suffer a ban for insulting/abusing other members.  Genuinely curious as I sense that the rules often get applied on a personal rather than objective perspective.

I get your point but I think CM's relative newbiness isn't the main point here.

It's his consistently confrontational style which seemingly constantly begs for a fight.

A lot of us lose our rag from time to time (I certainly do) but for me, if I sense someone has a genuine beef or issue which they put forward passionately with a few profanities thrown in for good measure, that's no problem. Robust debate can be had.

Some people just seem to have a nasty attitude from the off, or take the bad aftertaste of a previous argument into every future post.

That's corrosive,

IMO of course  :hi:.

It's clear you called me an idiot by inference.

Saying someone who believes such-and-such is an idiot is no different from calling someone an idiot directly, if they believe such-and-such.

And then say I didn't understand what you meant so it's my fault... .

At least you could have said you didn't mean to call me an idiot   :P.

I'm certainly not above the law davie, I wouldn't wish to be considered as such.

But as one beloved and longstanding member has stated recently, context is everything.

I would also add that in this context (rein it in, as in horse's reins), it's rein and not reign .

It's clear what I meant and despite highlighting the particular part, you took a rather long time to tipple it. My point stands, if that's what you believe and why you had no counter. Best drop it as its hardly your first rodeo.

I agree, context is everything but when members are questioning another's actions it has to looked at and a suggestion that the member concerned should calm down and rain, reign, rein (feel free to delete whichever spelling you think does not get the point across) it in a bit doesn't seem too unreasonable.

It's hardly your first rodeo either, is it? So why even say that?

And I'm not sure what you mean by tipple it?

Agreed davie.

I'm quite sure that I've explained that term to you before.

There's no point in discussing this any further as you appear unwilling, if not incapable, of being civil and still don't understand context.

As you've already stated; why bother engaging with me?

You're not only wasting my time, you're wasting your own.

You're still arguing, while at the same time telling me I have to stop arguing. Can you not see that?  :dash:

You're right about one thing though, it's a waste of time.

I'm not telling you to do anything. Please try to understand that.

You're telling me I'm incapable of being civil and I don't understand context. That's not even faint praise .

Anyway, I'm out  :hi:

It takes two to tango - or to turn a debate into a slanging match.
I may be a bit of a provocateur at times and annoying as shit to a few here, but I try not to be dragged into a pointless slanging match and I try and debate rationally and courteously - but damn it gets difficult sometimes with some of the pricks on here!
WW and I disagree pretty profoundly around issues of Covid/lockdown, but I’m happy to debate with him as we seem to stay on topic rather than end up insulting each other. Despite infuriating each other at times.
But this place does have more than its fair share of trolls who would rather nit pick to prove their point and play oneupmanship rather than debate a topic logically and politely.
I do observe rule 23 being broken with impunity by long standing members quite often.
Banned reason: Abuse of mod.
