Still not punting so I've been letting my mind wander back in time.  In the late 1990s I found myself working in Manchester for a couple of years when I suppose the parlour scene was at it's peak - plentiful choice and relatively inexpensive. No AW and only the very beginning of internet communication.  Punting involved getting a copy of the MEN and calling the parlours one by one to hear who was on the menu for that day. Some of these parlours still exist, but of course many are long gone.  Sandy's and World Famous Babes were amongst the best known and one girl I remember, Tina T, worked at both at different times.  Another establishment on Chorley Road close to Moorside station was a favourite - upstairs you were always welcome to have a beer and a chat before choosing a girl (or not).  I enjoyed my first MMF here with a complete stranger and the lovely Porsha.  I also remember one upmarket parlour not far from Piccadilly.  You climbed an iron staircase to the entrance - inside the girls would sit around a full size snooker table dressed in short white "uniforms" that I found very attractive.  One issue was that most parlours closed at 9pm, out of hours I would find myself on the motorway to Oldham to see who was working on the night shift.  Great days, long gone - now I would always choose from AW but I think Manchester still has an active parlour scene? I could write a book ! I started punting in 1998, my first ever parlour experience was Salon 24, and strangely Ive never been back since. It was just as I was starting to use the internet at home but the default source of info was the MEN, which is why I ended up there. It was an unremarkable punt but set me on a course to ruin ! My next punt was The Toucan and from there I branched out to WFB where I eventually got banned for writing a negative review and naively admitted it to the receptionist. I had many a pre- or post-match punt at Chesterfields in the 90s, sometimes both and the receptionist wouldn’t charge me the door fee the second time. I always found it to be a very vanilla place, don’t think I ever had OWO but I was very risk-averse in those days so maybe that was as much down to my preference at the time. It did go downhill towards the end; I think they had new management.

I well remember Tina T and her magnificent breasts, always called you ‘babe’, seemed to me to be on something but I could be wrong. It wasn't unheard of but it certainly wasn't the norm as it is today.
