A great fight.
Two great fighters risking their undefeated status.
I wish it happened more often.
And a great illustration of the brutal effectiveness of a punch to the liver.
Looking forward to seeing Komachenko v Haney on May 20.

Offline Problem Child

So the big one tonight, well tomorrow I suppose..
Honestly can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a fight. Would absolutely love Loma to win, but Haney’s got by a lot more going for him than just size.
Now I’m advancing in years think I’ll have an early night and get up nice n early rather than staying up all night 😂

Offline Problem Child

Bah! Wasn’t a complete robbery, but I thought Loma edged it.
The judge who scored it 116-112 was fucking tripping 😵‍💫

So Fury shites it from fighting the only other decent boxer in his division (who’s not even a real heavyweight) only to fight someone who’s not a boxer? 🤦‍♂️
These *superfights* are getting tiresome, although I’m looking forward to Pacquiao vs Buakaw, if it happens.

Offline theeaglekid

Heavyweight division is in a bit of dissarray.

Having said that, boxing overall has had and will have some excellent matchups this year.

Spence v Crawford is the one I am looking forward to the most, followed by Inoue v Foulton (which will likely go under the radar, save for hardcore fans)

Aye defo, at least in the other divisions the best are fighting the best, like  Loma v Haney, Inoue v Foulton and Spence v Crawford, although this last one should’ve happened years ago.
I think most fans have far more respect for guys like Loma who aren’t afraid to lose. Moves up a class and goes straight for the top man, rather than these bitches (Mayweather), who protect their “0”’s by ducking all the best fighters till they’re past it.

Preview of Spence v Crawford.

Good summary, one thing he doesn’t mention is that it’s 2 southpaws. Nobody likes fighting southpaws, they’re awkward af, but some southpaws often struggle even more against fellow left handers. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Huge respect for Loma - Always up for the smoke.

Thankfully Spence Crawford is not like Mayweather Pacquio or Brook Khan - yes late, but not over the hill

Anyone think that Dubois has a chance against Usyk?

Can see Uysk getting his first heavyweight stoppage. DD seems injury prone, despite being 25.

Nope, although it is boxing so you can never be 100%. Just 99.99999999..
Nothing against him, coz he seems like a decent guy, but the fact that someone of his capability is actually getting a title fight just shows how bad the heavyweight division is these days.
Can’t see that changing any time soon either.

There is always a punchers chance and in the heavyweight division, anything can happen.

If Usyk is motivated as per usual, I cannot see how Dubois will win, however if he is not and puts in a lucklusture performance, then who knows.

My money (if I gambled) is on Usyk, as is pretty much most of the boxing fraternity - But all it takes is a punch in the right place at the right time

Hopefully some of the younger lot coming up are NOT like that, but who knows

- Hrgovic appears to want the smoke and is mandatory for the IBF belt
- Jared Anderson is promising
- Jalalov - Olympian
- Torrez Jr - Olympian
- Fraser Clarke - Olympian, but not sure about him

Other names, but perhaps not as decorated, due to lack of amateur pedgree - Fabio Wardley, Adeleyde

IDK mate, the way I see it, due to their awful familial history (slavery),  the vast majority of great HW’s have been black Americans. Pretty much only The Rock and Jack Dempsey don’t fit this description. ( obvs there’s Lewis, but he’s North America so lumping him in wi the yanks)
These days if you’re a big, black, athletic, American kid, you can make at least as much money in sports where your chances of brain damage are massively reduced (“football “) or virtually fuck all (NBA).
Fuck, even mma is less risky.

Heard yesterday that Fraser "Big Fraze" Clarke is going to fight Dave "White Rhino" Allen next. Surely the last roll of the dice for Allen?

Some good fights coming up. Can't wait for Spence vs Crawford.

P.S. no heavyweights want to fight Bakole.

Shame they do not get similar recognition, but much better than before in terms of finance and coverage.

The monster does it again.
8th round stoppage.
Props to Fulton for taking it on but Inoue had to be seven rounds up by that point .

Bold statement, and arguements can be made for and against (as fans do subjectively) - but 2 division undisputed champ aint no joke.
Best finisher in the game.

I think Inaoue could fall into a similar terrority later this year if the undisputed goes ahead with the other belt holder.

Also, IF every Fury/Usyk goes ahead, and IF Usyk wins - that is another claim the best of this era...

Offline Problem Child

Think you could add Canelo and Loma to that list too.
Both excellent fighters who aren’t afraid to push themselves up weight classes till they reach beyond their limits.

My vote would def be for the monster way out in front  with Loma number 2. The way Inoue absolutely dominated Fulton makes me think he could be an all time lb 4 lb great by the time he’s finished. In a few years when he knocks Tank  the fuck out and clears out the rest of the LW division, his legacy will be sealed.
Loma def not up there in the P4P status after some recent losses, but the way he dances round that ring is beautiful.

I don't think he'll go that high in weight.
I reckon 130 tops . Then again I'm no expert.
I do think he has the skills and speed to make bigger fighters look ponderous though.
Just not sure whether his punches would have the same clout at 135 to 140.
And if he put on weight would it slow him down?
I was impressed with Crawford though. Very clinical in dismantling Spence .

Yeah, but in boxing. It may be safe for them to take, but not for the bloke who's getting hit 300 times in the head by someone who had been made stronger by 'roids.

Exactly this , its why the boxing authorities need to come down hard on drug cheats. But when one of the so called World heavyweight champions is a convicted drg cheat i fear its too late.

Boxing has no universal authority, as such it is difficult.

Every jurisdiction and testing body has their own set of rules and ability to rule.

VADA for example only report, but no other power.

Also, someone has to put up for the costs of increased testing, which is likely to yield more positive drug findings.

AJ - nice KO

But this tentative boxing style will not work with Wilder at all - all it needs a one bang.

Either go in and get the big punches out first, or I see a simple case of Wilder finishing it early (if the fight does ever go ahead... )

What a surprise
Brand Tyson wins the fight
Laughable
Tyson got sat on his arse
Two judges have it for Ngannou
One gifts it to Fury by 3 points, yeah right
Seems a bit strange to me
Better check that they've added the score cards correctly [they are that thick]

Lennox Lewis post fight interview, another surprise not, reckoning Fury won
He didn't do himself any favours, well outside the boxing world
Everyone else knows who won

KSI wasnt allowed to win either
This is boxing
Cross sport boxers aint gonna be allowed to win
Boxiin are challenging FIFA for being corrupt

Tyson has a good punch & is a good figther
If he wasnt 6'9" he'd have no chance

On the other hand it was Ngannou's 1st fight
How good can he become !
Embarrassment or why [edit: what] for the Furys

Just adding Lennox is digging a bigger hole

I didn't see the fight but by all accounts Ngannou was robbed especially after putting Tyson Fury on his backside in the 3rd round. However I can't take boxing seriously as a sport when you have so many governing body's running the sport and different "world champions holding different belts. WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF it would be like having four different versions of Fifa running World football each with their own " World cup" tournament or four different versions of the FIA running Formula 1 each with their own World championship  :unknown:

Fury should count himself very lucky. The money men could not allow him to lose.

Ngannou gave a very good account of himself and respect to him  :hi:

Meh!
Fury’s a fucking joke!
Shat it from a middle weight, beaten by an amateur….👎

Avoiding a left hook  after a one-two is really  basic stuff.
If ever proof was needed of just how awful the heavyweight division is these days, then this is it. The lineal HW world champ should be a 37 yr old with ONE *professional* fight..

Fair play to Ngannou. Thought this would be a walk in the park for Fury but my word, was I glad to be proven wrong. Don't care what the judges' scorecards say, thats a massive L for Tyson, and I bet even he knows it himself considering his reaction after the fight ended.

Thats coz Frank Warren & Fury's team will be bricking it that he'll get beat
Which would put a huge dent in how much money they can make
Its only Furys height & reach which gives him the advantage

Watching yesterday Usyk looking at Fury must have been thinking that he wished it was him in the ring
He'd take him to the cleaners

The potential for Ngannou is huge
His 1st fight WTF
UFC / MMA are gonna have a problem keeping hold of him
As the money he can earn boxing will dwarf UFC / MMA
Fighters do have a lot of costs to cover trainers training accomo travel etc
If he trains now purely for boxing I reck he will win one of the myriad of belts
& not too far away in the future

Eddie Hearn's take on things seems to hit the nail on the head
External Link/Members Only
He suggests that the Usyk Fury fight is dead in the water
No one will be interested
Tho he does have his own agenda

Given Saudi have done a deal for Usyk Fury & the riches are so enormous this points to it somehow happening
Unless Saudi think better spending their petro$ on a different fight

Here's what the boxing world thinks of the fight
External Link/Members Only
Eubank Jr dared to be different:  “Watching from ringside I thought Ngannou won the fight”
Along with Alvarez
Makes Lennox Lewis in his post fight commentary [giving it to Tyson] looking like he backed the wrong horse

The good news is that Ngannou has shaken the boxing tree
See what falls out
Boxing needs a refresh i reck those interested in watching it are bored of the gypsy circus & Tyson's tantrums
I am, not much
The refresh needs to include the scoring, for the biggest fights there could easily be five rather than three judges which would help even things up

Online webpunter

Immediately after the KSI Fury scoring announced there was a camera on Tyson [which i doubt he saw], you could see him shaking his head with a sigh of relief
Boxing protects its own
He seemed to back off in the last couple of rounds staying out of trouble confident that those scoring the fight would know what to do
Had Ngannou put Tyson on the canvas a 2nd time the judges would have had a proper dilemma to deal with, try digging your way outta that pile !

The potential for Ngannou is huge

UFC / MMA are gonna have a problem keeping hold of him

Ngannou left UFC after his contract expired earlier this year. He is signed with PFL, and contractually he must do MMA fights with them, but is free to negotiate boxing or other sports as a seperate contract. UFC never allowed this with their fighters (they leased McGregor's contract for the Mayweather fight from my understanding).

But many UFC now will see boxing as a cash cow for them - Mcgregor opened the door, Ngannou bulldozed the gates open.

I can shift in momentum with UFC building fighters, then flying the nest.
UFC may need to be more fair financially to the elite fighters. Dana I am sure is taking note.

Offline Problem Child

Tbh I can’t see many mma guys switching to boxing with much success.
The HW division is fucking terrible right now, but most other weight classes are full of great boxers.

Put it this way.. the best boxer just now in ufc is probably Sean Strickland. He’d be a LHW if he moved to boxing. Canelo hit his limit at LHW and had to move back down to super-mid.
Despite this if Strickland and Saul were to fight at LHW, can anyone really see anything other than a resounding victory for Canelo? Canelo would fucking destroy imo.

Offline Problem Child

Well done ma man Inoue , undisputed champ over 2 divisions in just over a year!  :hi:

Respect to tapales too. Inoue was mostly in full control, but he’ll still be pissing blood for a day or two.
I expected Tapales to be a tough wee bastard, but surprisingly he gave Inoue a lot more trouble than Fulton. His defence was pretty good, especially when he changed to that kind of Philly shell guard.

Weird watching a big fight in Boxing Day morning though.

Personally my fighter of the year.

Many will say Crawford and understandably so. Much more of a glamour division.

The Monsters achievement in breakneck speed, is nothing short of fantastic. No one I know has done such in such short space of time, and he is still only 30!

Just a shame that lower weights don’t get the spotlight as much, again it’s business and understandable.
