Hi,

Not wishing to trangress in any way  but is it against rules to mention other sites?

I posted a message on this forum earlier today but it was marked as 'waiting for moderation'. I don't yet see the thread.
Message content was a question to ascertain whether anyone was using a particular site I've used for many years.

Discussion about other punting forums is not prohibited but many are often very hostile. Other forums are also anti-punter; therefore it is not in the interests of punters to give them publicity. Posting links to other sites is prohibited as is slagging off. Use your noodle. We are allowing links in Punting Abroad section.

Don't think I fell foul of that then - i mentioned the name of the site (not the link) and that I could no longer login - difficulties getting things reset so wondered whether anyone else had had the same issues.

really best not to try to link to that site - there's a lot of ancient history regarding its owner, Angel, and his attitude to this and other punting sites. At one stage he was running a reward for anyone who would reveal Oldadmin's identity.
But as a general rule you'll find linking to, or in some cases just naming, other punting review sites is blocked or censored.
Basically Oldamin didn't want to promote competing sites, but also there were possible legal issues where crosslinks were made to reviews on other sites

As for not being able to log in there - thats been a problem for a year or more, with the membership records somehow getting deleted every few months followed by incomplete restorations. Its linked to allegations of server theft and domain hijacking which are briefly discussed in older threads here. No point discussing it again, the site is dying

The history is irrelevant, you posted a short thread that went straight to premod because of the name of an auto censored site, the fact it did that should indicate that it was not allowed.

cheers....am up to speed on those; not really specific in terms of censorship and reading a few other posts looks like others have questioned it's method in the past.

If your post goes to pre-mod then there is something in it that is not allowed, 9 times out of 10 it is a link or mention of other sites. Mentioning or linking to other site is clearly covered in rule #11

If you have mentioned another site and your post goes to pre-mod and it appears edited with the offending mention removed then you know not to mention it again, if it doesn't appear at all then the topic is not suitable.

Just for clarity......it is ONLY punting forums that you have an issue with? (I use you in the wider sense as representing the site not an individual).

I didn't attempt to post a link so it is the very mention of the word that is the problem - the 'he who must not be named' of UKP

By posting against the rules you create work for the mods, by trying to by-pass the auto-sensor you create more work for the mods. Then you post what could be classes as piss taking comments.
