I spent about £50 on mine so it's between 3 and 4 cuts before I break even.

I buy mine form tkmaxx or boots(half price)  so far saved lots of money..

Everywhere sold out early in lockdown and then parasites were selling them on eBay for 2 or3 times their true value. I eventually got a set for £50 that usually cost £30. I was toying with the idea of a buzzcut anyway, so it was good to get the nudge to try it.

  me too now I've invested in some clippers from Boots for £35 .First attempt was a bit wonkey but after a bit of practice it's not so bad (mind you I have very little hair left now  )

I enjoy the social interaction of the barbers, plus i need my eyebrows done, my last haircut was done by someone who is on reality tv, he told me that and much else in an amusing 40 minutes,plus i feel deep lust for the blowsy milf who also works there.

Likewise. The place I go to has a very comely and statuesque blonde Polish woman, who's an excellent barber. She has this way of rocking on her heels as she clips and cuts. She does it just enough to see her boobies bounce a little under her well-filled sweater.

I'm sure she doesn't do it deliberately.

It's also the only barbers I've ever been to that offers you a proper man's drink. No poncy latte or green tea at this place. You get a shot of decent whisky.

I couldn't find decent clippers to buy during lockdown, but eventually got some from China.
Only used them once..... Badly overheated and faulty on/off switch.

Did a passable job, then straight in the bin.

Maggie ( known as 'Fag Ash Lill), at the barbers usually gets my fiver on pensioner's day,  and we usually have a good natter about holidays. Obviously that's out so I might have to strike up a conversation about the situation in Outer Mongolia.

The guidance seems that she'll have to wear a mask or visor which at least might camouflage her ciggy breath.
 
As you can tell, I only frequent the more high end salons.

I've had several pairs of Wahl 100 clippers which can be had for around £10 if you look in the right shops or online. I used to visit a friend and he'd run the clippers over my head when my hair got too long and was due to see him before lockdown started but he was too busy on the day so I did my own hair. It took several attempts first time for it to look OK but I wasn't going out anywhere, now I'm more confident about running the clippers over myself.

The barbers I use had bottles of Sailor Jerrys and cans of Brewdog in the fridge in the waiting room, but I suspect that was the reason they were so popular with school kids as the waiting room was downstairs out of sight

I avoid buying electrical goods made in China.. always have always will do.. very substandard rubbish.. other day i bought a tv, and i would check at the back if it had any connection to china, and i didn't care what brand the tv was..

That's definitely a non-starter. You'll see many big-name brands are made in China now, be that electronics or White Goods.

It's more to do with the brand than the country of manufacture.

I always look at the back.... i know top brands make in China, but also other countries.. and i go for the other.obviously Japan :thumbs:

Before the lockdown hair clippers were readily available in shops and on e-bay with a good choice between 10 and 30 quid. I've tried numerous places without success. There are clippers available for in the 50 to 120 quid price range. On e-bay there are clippers in the 15 to 35 quid price range from China with expected delivery late July to early August!
I'll be first in the queue when the barbers open next month.

I'm very much of the same mind. But if you buy anything electircal or electronic right now, good luck with buying anything made in Japan.

Even 'traditionally Japanese' brands are seldom made in Japan now. It'll be China or Korea. Perhaps less so, Taiwan.

I invested in some thinning scissors off the internet and my missus made a really passable job of stopping me look like the Wild Man of Borneo. But I shall be really glad to see my young lady in the near future. I believe I will have to book such will be the demand.

You can make items anywhere in the world, but the most important things are design and quality control, nation of manufacturing means nothing.

Why would that matter? All the R&D is performed by Bose, the design, the manufacturing systems, which probably include all the tooling etc. You'd get exactly the same product as if it were made in the USA.

Bose do it to save money, but being a big brand they're not going to risk their name by turning out crap.

Why would China matter? If they're making stuff for a big company like Bose, they make it exactly how Bose tell them to.

There's ethical concerns of course, like the way they've stolen intellectual property over the years, but in terms of the quality of product it'll be as good as made in the USA.

For example, Range Rover havd opened a plant there I think? They're not going to turn out substandard Range Rovers.

If you buy a Chinese own-brand for half the price it'll likely be crap.

But buying big brands which have used China for the manufacturing process, no problem as far as I can see.

I have just booked an appointment on the ‘Nearcut’ app for my usual place. All pretty straight forward with quite a lot of times available surprisingly. You have to wear a mask and chit chat is banned which suits me.
