Elton is supposed to be retiring to spend more time with his kids but its been the longest goodbye in history.
His old mate Rod Stewart had a dig at him about it a while back. And talking of Rod he can still sing but not rock and pop, crooning is his forte now and bloody good I think he has been with his American Songbook series all of which I have and the best of compilation. However, in the last few years he has been singing pop and writing new songs, not very good in my view.
McCartney has had a great and long run though of course but I would imagine he really doesn't want to accept and really face the fact he cant sing anymore, and to play Glastonbury must of been very appealing. We shall see if he does play next year instead. The best of the legends in recent years for me was Barry Gibb, he cant do the falsetto that well anymore but quite good overall I thought. Absolutely and embarrassingly bad was Neil Diamond.
Tend to agree about Rod, although he can’t really re-create his old songs in the original key it was written.
The last time I was in Glastonbury was in 2016 and to see Barry Gibb on stage with Coldplay was a highlight, his falsetto is not as strong but he does still hold a tune. I do have a soft spot for Coldplay so do tend to try to catch all their concerts, their best was in São Paulo as the crowd was amazing,,
Neil Diamond so sad another who should be told the truth that he’s lost it..
I am quite fortunate being in the Events industry I am lucky I have a job I really enjoy...
