Hi Ant
I took up running for the umpteenth time, this time kept it slow and short distance but still ended up in agony (I've been through all the 'right' trainers, gait analysis, supportive insoles, strenghtening muscle groups, stretching etc) potential stress fracture in pelvis. Also had been doing some exercise classes which are classes as 'high impact' looks like they are all out.
This was me too. I used to run on a treadmil at my gym all the time. And always was fine. I even had ankle weights on every now and again and still fine.
I would run in boxing classes each week, again fine. But during the lockdown given I had nothing else to do. I started for my exercises running around a field next to my house. It has completely and utterly destroyed one of my knees. So I had to stop.
I dislocated it when I was very young and its been fine. Except it seems this running on the field has destroyed it. Not sure if its the hard surface from running on soil. Or the unevenness of running on a very bumpy surface. But its done it.
I wish I had of bought a bike before the lockdown. As there is a place in Newcastle that fixes up donated bikes and sells them off for £100. And these are not rubbish bikes, these are seriously good high-grade mountain bikes that they sell. I was planning on buying one but never got round to it and then Covid struck.
I have been going through all the Youtube workout videos that people have been putting on there. Jean Claude Van Damme has done a 5 video set on there. And I just seen before posting this Scott Adkins has done a flexibility workout (he is the guy who replaced Van Damme as the hero in the Universal Soldier film series).
I have been spending this morning sending messages to all the local martial arts schools asking when they plan to reopen again to see if any are on Monday 15th. As this gives you one hell of a workout. And just, I am now very much in the mood of. I just want to get out there and do something, anything. As this lockdown is not good for me at all.
