some such as pornhub also produce porn which has a big enough, but comparatively small fanbase who will pay
then there are the video sales from which the platform will take a cut

And Pornhub now has premium videos which I'm sure some people actually pay to see. Some sites used to have a pay to download feature but not sure that's relevant anymore with such fast internet. Also I'm sure there was a site that used to show everything in 480p and premium members got 1080.
