Rising prices on eBay due to covid

I respect it is a free market but frankly there are some piss takers.
I bought a box of 100 gloves for £6.99 which I thought was a rip off, now they £1.99 a pair.

Some seeds have doubled in price.

Supply materials: tape, packaging boxes all up £1 or £2 in the last few weeks.

Has anyone spotted any others? I know some couriers have raised prices but only by about 50p.

I know it's a minor thing, but I'm just getting bored of people's greed.

Regarding couriers, Hermes are very good, their prices haven't increased and things are still working.

They knocks spots off Royal Mail and Parcelforce too, for both tracking and price of package and parcel delivery.

Yes I mentioned this recently in another thread in relation to Amazon.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking for lawn fertiliser. I sourced this last year on Amazon so I went to my account and clicked 'buy again' from the same supplier and it was just over double the price! I eventually found a much better price from another online store (not amazon or ebay) but still more expensive than what I paid last year.

Out of curiosity I went into my order history for 2019 and kept selecting 'buy again' for a variety of things I had purchased. A couple of items where showing as roughly the same price and some no longer available, but the majority where also hugely more expensive than last year. Quite scary.

Same thing happened to me I needed something for a present, gone up £8 in a month and the equivalent on eBay was even more expensive, also didn't have "free" delivery.

With regards fertiliser, soil etc when garden centres reopen prices will drop slightly I'm sure of that. They have about 3 months of unsold stock.

I just sent a load of stuff with Hermes today and it was still £2.90 for fully-tracked packages under 1kg? 

Perhaps charges have increased for larger items then.

I do railway modelling and I decided to make young grandson a small 8x4 track he can play at home on. Now I have nearly everything on stock to do it except Peco Fexitrack  metre lengths, the stuff you can bend. 

The factory that makes it is in Beer, Devon and has been shut for weeks. Nobody has any left at any on line shop, eBay had some joker had put it on for  £125 for four new lengths, it's normally under £4 each. Lots of dog eared rough used stuff.

It appears lots of people have taken the lockdown to start up railway modeling and I have had a very good trade since,flogging off surplus stuff.

It's very minimal, but it used to be £2.85. I'll send an image of prices when I have more time.

Part of my business involves online retail. I don't agree with blatant profiteering on potentially life saving items such as masks or gloves. However, non essential items are all about supply and demand. If somebody is prepared to pay a higher price for an item than they were last month, then as a seller I am happy to take their money.

Unfortunately Ali Katt, the price increase of packaging materials is due to a lack of it in the country. Seeds are a very much seasonal item, with now being the time to buy. Buying out of season is always going to be cheaper, the same as if you bought your Christmas decorations at the moment.
