I wouldn't denigrate him for putting his family first, Im sure you would too but there is too much nepotism in involving his family in Government. Not to mention conflict of interest with their company dealings.

I guess that only time will tell (assuming we actually get the truth) however let's be careful what we wish for, one thing is for sure if he's dead then the country is unlikely to morph into a democracy overnight.

On the news this morning they said that they think he has possibly 3 young children up to the age of about 5 or 6 so too young to take over control.
On that basis his sister could take control but women are deemed to be second class and they still follow the old tradition of 1st born male successor, alternatively we could end up with a more traditional military dictatorship which sounds like great fun
