I believe in there primes this would of been a super fight obviously between two very vicious punchers, and both had sky high arrogance imbedded in there persona's.

I believe the way Foreman destroyed the great legendary Joe Frazier, he would of done the same to Mike Tyson..

In my opine this fight would of been over in about three rounds and no more.. certainly no points victory here for either fighter.

I wouldn't say destroyed Foreman, Ali used skill to drain Foreman of his stamina and strength and then took him down..

Where as IMHO Tyson and Foreman would both come at each other and throw vicious relentless bombs at each other..
Foreman destroyed Frazier with uppercuts.. Foreman uppercut with lightening right cross (as with Kenny Norton) and i hate to say it, lights out Mike Tyson..

Frazier beat Ali. Ali just stood and let Foreman hit him, couldn't put him down though. Ken Norton was another one to beat Ali, once, lost twice to him after that.

Did you see the Muhammad Ali vs. Ernie Terrell fight, dubbed the "what's my name" fight. In the run up Terrell kept calling him Cassius Clay and for most of the fight Ali kept saying "whats my name" to him while battering him.

It's generally thought that Ali dragged the fight out for 15 rounds so he could keep punishing him Ali denied it though.

One of the best heavy weight fights was Larry Holmes v  Ken Norton also  Holmes comeback  V Earnie Shavers.

Both in their prime...

Got to go with Iron Mike. As good as smoking Joe was you cannot compare him to Mike.

Hand speed, head movement, height tells me Tyson would triumph.

Going with Tyson to knock Foreman out say  R5/6

Got to add had Cus D'Amato not died so early in Tyson's career I put it out there that Tyson may have gone on to become the greatest heavyweight ever. In boxing terms he was still in his nappies when he became heavyweight champion.

If D'Amato didn't die, and Tyson had successfully gone through the 90's period and beaten the likes of Bowe, Lewis, Morrison, Mercer, Holyfield, Moorer, Bert Cooper (still a big puncher who could derail someone's career)and an aged George Foreman..

Greatest ever debatable ???  Because

Ali beat in there primes, Frazier, Norton,Liston, Lyle, Foreman,Shavers,

Certainly them 2 would be tops... 1 or 2 respectively is down to one's own opinion..

I think he would have wiped the floor with all the boxers you mentioned.

That peek-a-boo style fashioned in the grimmy gym of New York would have been far too much for those guys. Many fans still think, wrongly in my opinion, Tyson was just a puncher.

I would suggest he is a better boxer than all those on your list and punching power not even a debate.

We should not forget the trainer/father that made him died one year before he became heavyweight champion @20. Look what he achieved without Cus, he openly admits none of the fallout would have happened had Cus been around such was the respect and fear he had in him of Cus.

Mind boggles what he could have achieved if Cus had lived for say another decade.

Greatest heavyweight ever?  yes of course debatable ... good post though

What it again on video, that was some short sharp dig he hit him with, right on the button. Have to admit the angle of the camera makes it a bit hard to see.

You rek? ...  a real shame we were deprived of that fight when Tyson was at his prime.

I maintain Tyson was the better boxer and bigger puncher and would knocked him.

Holyfield beat Tyson twice in '96 and '97, fair enough Tyson bit his ear off in the second fight but he was getting beaten anyway. Tyson was only 30 and Holyfield 34.   :unknown:

I am talking about the Golden Enhanced Mike Tyson of the Kevin Rooney days... in his early 20's, when he beat Tyrell Biggs, Tony Tubbs, Pinklon Thomas, all very very easily, the superior head movement, the combination of speed and power lightening fast punches.. That was the real Mike Tyson, after the departure of Kevin Rooney that was mediocre Mike Tyson..

Tyson was finished by the time he fought Holyfield infact he was already a broken man when he was knocked out by Buster Douglas in probably the biggest upset in heavyweight history ... yes bigger than when kebab boy beat AJ

For boxing aficionados there are some great documentaries floating about of the deep psychological warfare that Cus installed in Tyson and Rooney a student of Cus continued.

For me Ali is the greatest but Mike would have rivalled him (not in terms of popularity) if Cus had not died. He was that good.

Agree about Ali as an all round superstar  The film about him that Will Smith did was top draw.

Tyson was a beast and yes in his prime had such power and focus that made him unbeatable at a certain time. Scary just watching him on some of those documentaries.

From what I have seen of Tyson, he had a lot of demons and needed a lot of help to be 'fight ready' but when he was, for me he was just scary and would take anyone out at those moments.

That's why he can't be called the greatest for me though as he didn't have the mental strength to be consistent.

For me, with Tyson it will always be a case of what could have been. It's indisputable that he had the ingredients to become the greatest ever, but I think we never truly witnessed Tyson at his best. It's interesting that KT attributed the departure of Kevin Rooney as initiating Tyson's decline, though I would argue that in such circumstances the best find a way to win in spite of the obstacles laid in their way.

Exactly, he's another potentially great sports person who falls into the 'would've been if' category and there's been all too many of those over the years. Mental strength is one vital ingredient.

foreman had a huge reach advantage over tyson and was one of the hardest punchers ever
from records tyson refused a fight with foreman when foreman came out of retirement and won the heavy weight title again
when tyson met don king he was finished
king apparently murdered 2 men

Foreman second life in boxing he had more stamina, more variation of angles in his punches, in his fight with Ali, who used the ring ropes to his full advantage when letting foreman bombard him with heavy punches, where Foreman was lacking was switch punching, hardly any punches to the side of Ali's body.. where Mike Tyson was an expert with switch punching just like the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez..
Head and body at the same time.. lots of boxers have been lacking in the art of infighting head and body switch punching..
