Im going to riga for 4 nights at the beginning of october, sunday to Thursday.

A lot of the reviews are a couple of years old so wanted to know if anyone has been recently and can give me any pointers on strip clubs and general red flags to watch out for.

Also how late to the bars go to?

Looks like you've missed your flights by two weeks...

I went this summer - didn't visit any strip clubs but you will be able to find some bars that stay open very late indeed without much trouble.

Hey, went a few years ago, definitely watch out for the strip clubs and buying lady drinks, we heard tales of bottles of 'champagne' for the equivalent of £200 ! Paddy Whelans Irish bar in the centre had a private strip club upstairs which was great, normal bar prices and no rip offs, not sure if it's still there, it's not advertised, we were just drinking in the bar in the afternoon and the barmaid told us about it. Also the massage places are worth a try, walk in, line up of a few girls to choose from, was around £50 for an hour with happy ending. other services seemed to be available but very expensive (bj for £100). It's fine aslong as you don't act like a drunken yob. People are very friendly, but as with anywhere you should always be wary of scammers. Research is as always advised.

Riga is totally dead what comes to punting. I've been living there so I know.

There was a short period (less than 2 years) some ten years ago when all of a sudden there came dozens of strip clubs in the Old Town and there you could get some action (if you were lucky, 'cos it always depended on the girls and the chemistry between you etc.) but the city cleaned up the scene completely and made all the clubs go away. Now there's nothing left anymore.

You can still find some random independents but it's hard work and you need lots of luck with that and the prices are anyway higher than in the UK or in most of the other countries and the quality isn't very high.

Also in clubs/bars it's difficult to find anyone to fuck, doesn't matter if you speak their language or not. Latvians are fucked up people in general.

In short: you shouldn't go to Riga for pussy. Or for any other reason for that matter, it's boring as fuck compared to other cities in Europe.

After the city was razed to the ground during the second world war, it was rebuilt in the style of its origins, so even though it looks medieval, its not.

Nah , not pointless. the civvy girls are FAF and I enjoyed just watching them as they went about their daily business.

 I do recall visiting a sex shop/cinema/massage place ( a side street behind the radisson) and was offered a 50 euro massage with a not so good looking young lass. As I didnt have much time I declined so cant tell you what it may have been like.

1: open a profile on.  Xtra.lv

Xtra.lv has excellent reviews like ukp. Nb. Google translator required.

2: try seksam.lv

3: do not panic as google translator is handy.

Try these websites few weeks in advance for a punt.

Riga is nasty for fake picture girls on sites like gribu.lv or intimeitnes.... Avoid clubs and old Riga like plague unless you want to walk out just in pants!.


I had better luck with prostate massage and most parlours provide bloody good service. If you are staying in a half decent hotel, then let the bellboy or the receptionist help you out.

For 4 days of a trip, it is not worth risking with the Russians(yes, they run Riga!).

Anyone reading this should note.

Always use Airbaltic taxis.

Avoid MTM taxis like plaque, unless you are fluent in Russian.

For some reason, Brits are the number targets in Riga. I know it, since i worked there for few good years.

Learn basic Latvian which will put a smile on their usually cold face.
