I have, on the odd occasion given a girl money for a ticket previously but only after we'd already met and I felt she wouldn't flake. But yes not a good idea to give a girl you don't know money, much better to buy the ticket for them.

She could either flake or still use your ticket to travel and not see you but given there is no monetary gain for them, then insisting on this will mean many scammers will just leave it.

Others could clarify but my understanding is that if you use Trainline, you may be able to claim back most of the money on unused tickets?

Confirmed by chat in the morning,  all good to go. 30 mins to 6, messaged, no response.  At 7:30 she replied saying phone had died and to give her 30 mins to get ready. She sent postcode, actually not far from me. Got there at 8, messaged.  She replied saying she was outside. Gave some vague directions. Asked for number but she said it was a block of flats. I drove up and down the road. Nothing. She then sent a location, a road off the original road she said. Got there, nothing. She insisted she was on the original road. Told me to wait at the end of the road.

Summary she had me waste an hour trying to find her, with her insisting she was walking up and down as well. I tried video calling but she didn't pick, then claimed her camera was bad lol. I ended it when I called her and said she obviously wasn't there. She must be a great actress, possibly getting off wasting people's time.

Her strap line is "NO TIME WASTERS". Jokes on me I guess.

At best, putting that (particularly in caps) makes them angry. But more than that, girls (or maybe blokes behind the profiles) are usually timewasters themselves and I tend to avoid them.

I have often wondered what the success rate of the scammers is. Some of the scams are so obvious, yet there are still plenty doing it.... so do people actually fall for it, or do the scammers just have a load of spare time to devote to all the chatting etc?

we are all too trusting at the start and I guess we have all fallen for a scam at one time or another, but we learn from our mistakes and my best piece of advice would be to read all the open threads on UKP, it will give you a great insight of what to do and what not to do, money up front is the biggest no no until you meet then that becomes money at the end not the beginning

They're usually scammers or at the very least deluded pair of friends who think a rich guy is just going to spoil them with fancy dinners, nice clothes and allowances. So they don't last very long.

This pair also have individual profiles and appear to be willing to meet individually, which is slightly more promising. But the pictures are girls who are absolute stunners and my gut feeling is that they won't open their legs, certainly for a reasonable ppm. Look forward to any updates.
