If the raids didn't happen in October 2013 and then half the walk up's never went on to be shut down then after a year a few more went on to shut down like Tisbury Ct and Brewer Street and the latest one Bateman Street in 2017. Basically if none shut down at all and it was just like pre October 2013 it still would be a niche market in Soho right now because of the internet now on vivastreet u can see £30 or £40 for 15 mins or £50 for 30 mins in a nice luxury flat where u are allowed to shower after, drinking alcohol and smoking weed is allowed

Wow, exciting! Sounds like such a seedy, fun place to explore. If you've read the Sprawl Trilogy, it's makes me think of the seedy places in cyberpunk novels. That's why Soho is still my favorite place to wander around, but it sounds even better back then.

Liverpool, were you also in Soho in the 90's? I've been through Soho before, but I've only been deeply exploring the Soho and the Walkups for almost one year now. I'm "new" to punting, but I've been hitting it obsessively and very hard, possibly racking up several years' worth of punts in just one year. The accounts makes me wish there was a subforum for Soho so these things could be explored further. Or, I wish there was a deeply insightful documentary on Soho, with old photos and personal accounts from WGs, punters, and commoners in the area.

it wasn't hard to spot the villians back when I first started going there around 96 / 97... there was a lot of serious activity going on quite openly or if you knew what you were looking for not too hard to work out... i remember seeing various maltese characters collecting the rent from the walk ups and one maltese guy in particular i know for sure was extorting the sex shops... he wasn't someone you wanted be noticed by i tell you that... there were loads of black guys on the streets up to all kinds of stuff and there was a guy called "captain" who always wore a trenchcoat (even in the summer) and shades (even at night) who used to sell weed quite openly often around the grt windmill street clip joints... but he was more friendly and approachable not really a problem... i still see him around occasioanlly but he's on the streets now scrounging for change and looking for dog ends on the floor... he was a cool dude in the 90's but he's fucked now...
