An interesting tale from a soho WG's take on Christmas which was featured on the indo recently.

It really does go to show that the girls aren't creaming it, especially after rents and the maids takings etc.

The Soho girls at the better walkups do alright and are probably out-earned on a regular basis by only the most busy non-Soho WGs (i.e. those with a lot of reviews on here), though the work is certainly more demanding, albeit with many less logistical complexities. This woman in the article is NOT a Soho girl if you read the article carefully but a WG who works close by, apparently as an independent. The working model of Soho girls in terms of earnings, outgoings, mode of working, etc. is so different to that of independents or agency girls as to be almost a different profession from a WG's perspective (though from ours it seems to be the same; i.e. selling us sex). I count the Newports, Lisle Street and Chinatown in general as being part of Soho (though I accept that there may be different definitions of what Soho is which might exclude Chinatown), but in any case I think she is writing from an indie's perspective. From my reading of your post I think we are agreed that flats are quite unlike walkups.

This warren St flat is news to me. I just don't the big deal disputing the WGs story. For her testimony you can tell the flat is heavily visited. It's got Soho \ Chinatown written all over it but some people think otherwise. No worries.

There are also walkups in Shepherd Market.

There may be other, less visible walkups.  Until a few years ago there was one in Pollen St, for example, which was not on the general radar but which advertised via tart cards in phone boxes.

What makes it less likely that, for example, she works in Newport Court is that she seems to be there for a full week rather than just odd shifts.

The last thing I have wanted to do was create debate when I posted that link. I posted to merely offer some insight. When I'm back to work Monday I'm going to launch a legal complaint with the independent newspaper for misleading UKP posters by using Soho in the article.
