I've no idea where you got all this from. I think you are reading into or more likely using it to justify some beliefs you have. Laudanum said he didn't fancy some escorts he had seen, not that they portrayed themselves as being beautiful. More to the point most women, including the stunners are often insecure; most don't see themselves as beautiful, attractive maybe.
