Newport - what is going on?

I just though that I would start a thread to see if anyone knows what is going on in Newport?

It use to be a convenient regular stopping point on the way back home when on my travels with a fair selection of establishments but they now seem few and far between.

To name but a few

Have the Feds cracked down? Or is it the Newport Mafia? Or isn that place having a shake down as some of the ladies were.......how can I put this sensitively........experienced with life!

The Kandi Shop house in Bassaleg Road was raided by police and closed down - shortly after I'd accepted their offer of VIP membership

Does anybody know if Kandi are still 'trading'. I've tried to contact them several times but diverted to voicemail every time. Their site on AW did say that they were moving to a new location.

Well I know of a well established Cardiff operation that opened a branch in Newport and got scared off.  There is an operator there who's name I was told but at the time it meant nothing to me and I can't remember what it is now but he's involved in pharmaceuticals and is heavy... Turkish or Eastern European I believe. .. don't know if it has anything to do with this guy.. can't see Newport Gwent plod putting up with that for too long if it's true.
