I'm also pretty new, and have asked similar questions to Mrmehowareyou. It wouldn't have crossed my mind that I was raising suspicions, and it wouldn't have crossed my mind to introduce myself. I've felt listened to when I've posted comments, so it might be worth giving 'newbies' the benefit of the doubt, rather than thinking they are not genuine. If I'd had a response similar to Mrmehowareyou, I might have been discouraged from posting again. There is another thread about engaging with UKP members, and being suspicious of new members isn't likely to engage them!
