Intial attempt at contact yesterday via AW email. No response to email so arranged to meet using phone number on AW profile this morning.
Agreed and confirmed services, time & price.

Drove an hour to St Austell and messaged for address to receive no reply. No response to any messages following either.

I've never been to St Austell so I don't know what mobile reception is like but it is an area where I might suspect a dodgy mobile service level. The road from Bideford to Bude, although a bit further north, has reception that varies as you drive along it.

I certainly wouldn't rely on text alone.

Good point on phone service around Cornwall. However, I’d say that there’s more chance of a text getting through than a voice call if the signal is dodgy. That being said, I’d have also called to see if the phone went straight to voicemail or actually rang.

In addition I assume she never got back to the OP at all, even to apologise?
