Author Topic: How Much Money To Pay. How Much Is Too Much  (Read 5367 times)

Very true it is not a free market for exactly the reasons you describe but the impact of this seems to affect the quality of the product more than the price. There appear to be few barriers of entry into the market in regard to supply or demand it is after all not illegal if you wish to punt you can there is a choice and it is very, very easy to become a prossie start up costs are very low as are fixed costs.  Margins and profit are massive for the supplier. It is after all the oldest profession and that's the reason why. Market forces should still apply to price equilibrium.

The problem is as it has the perceived "Stigma" and no statuted regulation enforcement then quality is variable and not linked to price. The sale of goods act does not apply and their is no consumer protection.
The supply of illegal narcotics also has no consumer protection and hence zero quality control but the street price of drugs is still set by free market forces ie supply and demand.

In addition the advertising monopolies which control most of the contact points between consumers and suppliers ie AW also have no built in protection for the consumer in regards to quality or accurate description of the service.

The quality of the product is affected by these forces but the price is set by supply and demand. You use the phrase "Sensible Pricing", so once again why is x amount too much.  Surely no price is too much or too little as the fact the price was paid at all means it was the right price.
Quality(or rather the perception of quality) affects demand and hence price. Where there is no quality control, you get an overvalued(relative to quality) market that cannot be sustained as more consumers inevitably understand the poor VFM they're receiving, and when the quality is finally controlled prices adjust and bubbles burst.
I disagree with the idea that the price paid is the right(or rational) price. While such efficiency(or close to it) exists in markets where information is widely available to participants, consumer protection against abuse exists(e.g. insider trading and financial disclosure rules) and assets are liquid, and hence where differences against rational prices(or arbitrage) cannot arise, prostitution is not such a market. Information isn't available, there is no consumer protection and hence the pricing isn't rational.

Thank you your eloquent post is appreciated and are more knowledgeable than me regarding economic forces and your argument has certainly made me think about my opinion. So if the market is imperfect and prices not rational. What can we do as individuals and as a group to improve the situation even in a small way.

I think forums like this are crucial and more punters, particularly newbies need to be aware that there is at least one place where information on SPs is available and rogue participants(scammers/B&S) are named, so the more people participating here the better. Frankly I don't know what can be done to reduce the stigma associated with prostitution that stops it from being a legitimate industry and whether it is by nature meant to be a stigmatised industry because it involves the transaction of what to many is an emotional activity.

I've often dreamed of having enough dosh to make an 'indecent proposal' type offer to a woman that lives close to me. I've fancied her for years. I wonder how much it would take? Someone once said 'every woman has her price' - I think it was a French geezer. :unknown:

Agreed the stigma aspect is irrelevant and social and political issue which is pointless for us to discuss as punters as we are too close to the problem to have an objective point of view. I totally agree regarding this forum disseminating information so punters are helped to make better choices. This will lead to a reduction hopefully in poor service.

Now I agree that as an imperfect market, actual price is not rational you have convinced me of this with your argument but how much in your opinion do these imperfections effect the price in percentage term. Also if a punter pays x amount for a service and he is satisfied with the quality which of course is subjective. Then can others say he has paid too much as although the price is not a rational one if the whole market is skewered because of the imperfections mentioned then he has no control over the price paid. The market still sets it just at the wrong level. Or are the imperfections not consistent so one person may pay the correct price but the next pay the wrong price but again are they not outside of the punters control of course to a degree.

I totally agree the forum is crucial and i hope more punters learn of it over time as it can save punters money and help them locate good WGs and those to avoid.

In this unregulated pastime having a forum like this is a ray of light in the darkness that i punted in for most of my 31 years.

Totally agree this forum is a massive plus point for punters new and old.  It will  not replace AW as a contact point but with reviews it can change how punters choose who to punt with.

I was thinking about this subject the other week, as like others, looking back over the punting highs and lows of the year ...... or 5.

One thing that eventually dawned on me was that, apart from possibly one occasion, I don't think I've ever had a good punt over £120 ph. Infact, it would seem that as the price increases and goes through the £200 barrier the level service gets steadily worse and worse.

Why, is anyone's guess. Maybe prostitutes who charge 'higher' fee's dislike men, dislike sex, are just washed-up, worn out and bitter that they have to rent themselves out. High rates being a form of compensation for their disgust, pain and discomfort.

One thing is for sure: £100 to £120 bracket is where I'll be focusing my finances in 2014. Well, except for maybe one long time lurker on my HL

I see your point but why does price affect how we perceive the level of service. I have been convinced by another member that price does affect for example looks (Good and Bad) even if that is also subjective and even price can affect services on offer, CIM,Anal and extras extra that are bolt on services to some so can move the price up and down. Also I can understand location will be different depending on price. But why the standard of service that should be separate to price.

There is currently ZERO chance of me getting what I want at £100 - £120 :(

Exactly. I have a small group of regulars in that price range that all know how to deliver what I want. Any new girls I see are, as you say, "auditioning" for that job :D...sometimes, the first time shows enough potential for me (Hannah at Maxes recently) that I'll definitely return, but it is getting difficult for me to even be interested in a new profile (by which I mean the opinions of respected punters as well as the actual profile) given the quality of my current crop. It would have to be outstanding. I go on about KDD because she is a complete "natural" in my opinion. Made for fun. For those that remember, other girls in that category over the years for me have been Estelle at Maxes, Jayne Minx, Anna Minx and Lia Amelia who is still around I'm glad to say!

+1 on Anna Minx.... amazing woman!

I don't think market forces, supply and demand, equilibrium price and all that come into it here as you're comparing apples with pears.

There will always be escorts who can demand more for their services just like there are footballers, actors, lawyers etc who can attract a bigger fee for theirs.
