Some people do. They do it to avoid any nasty surprises or future hassles, because they know the onus is them to do so, because they need or want to prove income either for buying or renting a house. Not every WG is claiming benefits, gaps in NI contributions can affect things like pensions and future benefit claims should you ever need them.

Broksonic says he knows not a penny is paid on any prossie earnings, well I've paid a penny(and a fair few more) on my prossying income so I know that statement is not accurate.

I generally did think that not a single escort paid any taxes .  Nice to see that you're honest, and do pay your taxes
But I still think you're probably one of only a handful that do

you may very well be the exception that proves the rule!

that said, a well organised and clued up pro$$ie might just run the money through some channels (self-employed and all that bollox) to 'clean it up'....a less clued up one might piss it all away on drugs, alcohol, childcare, shoes or whatever other expenses they might have....

many EE WGs will end up travelling back to home country and not a penny is seen by mr tax man....

go figure eh?!

that said - If i was making that kind of money, i know what i would be doing....the national lottery is picking 500 raffle winners on xmas day....it's win/win!!!

If you owned a restaurant would you ask rival restaurants how to improve your business or would you listen to feedback from your customers.

We give far better advice than you will ever get on Saafe.    :hi:

why do you think I network here and not there ;)

This is another myth, the money if earned by a sex worker working independently doesn't necessarily require 'cleaning up', it's not illegal. I declare as an 'Escort' and don't need to shovel it through as any other business.

The vast majority don't, you are quite right.

And I don't want to pick on strawberry, who may be telling you the truth, but I certainly take every post made on an Internet forum with a pinch of salt. Especially those made by people with a vested interest.

I know a lot of people working in cash trades don't declare their income, some not for years but that is their choice. Just because you wouldn't, doesn't mean everyone doesn't.

The person who robbed me thought I wouldn't use banks because I wouldn't want to declare anything. He got a bit of a surprise.

We've been here before, and it's always surprising how very definite some people seem to be about prostitutes not paying tax. Some (usually part-time) may not bother, but there are also those who operate sensibly who I know damn well pay tax - as I have been around when they've been working on their returns.

lots do, ok they don't declare all income but then who does when they are self employed but enough to keep the wolf from the door

Yes, its an often posted about subject. As ever my view is the same, my taxes go towards paying for tax collectors, they should catch non payers and prosecute them. I wouldnt know if a WG i punt with pays tax or not as i am there to punt not read her tax return or associated documents. If she doesnt and gets done she should of thought about that before choosing not to pay the tax due in my view. :hi:

You're not anonymous on here, so it's in your interests to claim you pay all the tax you should (or even just some tax). Whilst you have that vested interest I'm not going to believe you just because you say you  :hi:

Couldn't care less, not my business. Has no effect on the level of service I receive from a WG. Far more important things to think about when assessing a WG and if I wish to pay her money for her services.

Tax evasion is a problem for everyone in this country, however, how many of us have stopped using Google, Starbucks or Amazon to name just a few who are legally evading hundreds of millions of pounds of corporation tax every year. It is the Governments job to raise taxation revenue, not mine. If I disagree with how a Government is performing in this regard. Then I can exercise my democratic right and vote for someone else.

I personally think that WG's should pay tax on earnings but it does not have any impact on my views on the service she provides in exchange for my money. I do not think to myself, does the window cleaner, the taxi driver or the builder pay tax on the money I give them in exchange for their services. No I do not, to me it's exactly the same.

Is it only the ones who give us an invoice when we hand over the cash, that are paying tax?

Although I firmly believe that the vast majority of prossies do not pay tax (Strawberry may be an exception) I also believe that the majority probably don't claim benefits. These days if you are on benefits you will be harassed to get a job. If a woman is prossying full time I don't think she'd have time for this, also wouldn't want the risk of being caught. Having said that undoubtedly some will be on benefits.

Going back to tax I once asked a regular having handed the money over (which don't forget we were the only two people who knew about it and this is the case with all indies) if she paid tax on it. She just smiled enigmatically.
Having said that she also works full time in another job so will be paying tax on that, therefore perhaps feels she deserves a tax free top up.

Does anyone really give a toss if prossies pay tax or not? If the whole industry was legalised and all prossies started paying tax it sure as fuck wouldn't come out of their current prices. The price we pay would increase to reflect their new "good citizen" status.

Does anyone really give a toss if prossies pay tax or not?

If I were to take the moral high ground, I would refuse to contribute to the black market and only book prossies on the government books as a taxpayer, rather than a benefits claimant.

But then again, if I were to take the moral high ground, I would only shag my missus   :hi:

As I have said many times before I don't particularly care, as if I were paid cash in hand I wouldn't declare as it, as wouldn't most people (despite what they say!) and we know that many other workers who take cash in hand don't declare it.

However what I do strongly object to is them taking us for idiots and sincerely expecting us to believe them when they stamp their feet and insist they pay tax. Of course they aren't going to publicly admit they don't.
Strawberry may be an honourable exception, I don't know and never will, but if she is I can tell you without any shadow of doubt that she will be in a tiny minority.

There are other reasons, other than being "honourable", for putting a reasonable amount of your earnings through tax system, even if a lot of your earnings are in cash.

If you want to do things like buy a house, pay monthly mortgage, etc things can get difficult if you constantly produce wads of cash out of thin air. Money laundering regs always make it possible that "suspicious" cash deposits will be highlighted to the "authorities".

I don't know likelihood of getting caught out (probably pretty low given how stretched IRS is).. but I do know consequences if you do get caught out can be life wrecking. (A good friend of my fathers had a darn good business that took a lot of cash completely destroyed…after years of making stupidly low tax returns when a young bright tax inspector checked his books.)

Certainly… I think anybody who's main income is from escorting (rather than it being a useful side income).. would be well advised to declare majority of earnings for tax. You know… probably rather similar to way taxi drivers, waiters, etc put some of their earnings through tax system, and omit others.

by 'clean it up'....i meant paying taxes - hence the term laundering money (not saying that you're laundering).....

but generally, when one 'cleans up' money, it means they appropriate it through some sort of traceable channel whereby one may usually be expected to declare / pay tax / formalise the income.....

I find it difficult to imagine most WG's doing a tax return whether in front of a punter or not!

I know some do declare and pay tax on some of their earnings.

As for one WG advising another to charge for a taxi and then cycle........

was this for an episode of You've Been Framed?

I have no problem with paying extra for an outcall to cover travel expenses.. would I be pissed off if she turned up in lycra with a bike helmet and a set of bicycle clips?

I'd probably want her to wear the helmet while we tried pussy pumping with the bike pump and I'd certainly advise her to hit the silly twat who told her to take the bike rather than a taxi with the bike pump

That is pretty much my sentiments, I don't give two fucks if they don't pay tax, I only pay tax because I have no choice.

I have to agree here.  even with a separate working flat we can only claim against the rooms a client will use and not any we use just for ourselves, make up, hair, nails etc is not claimable as these would be classed as normal expenses regardless of job.  Same as most clothes too and lingerie.  Only specialised clothing such as PVC or dressing up outfits would be claimable.  Condoms are claimable but baby wipes are not as many people use these to remove make up.  Like every self employed job we can only claim for expenses that we would not need to pay out for if working PAYE.
I remember one girl being told she could claim for a boob job which was hilarious as that would be classed as for her and not for work.

If we tried to claim for everything we would not only be laughed at we may find HMRC decides to do a little investigation to determine if we are declaring everything and I am pretty sure very few if any declare every penny.  Incalls perhaps as it would be easy for them to watch and see how many people come and go and for how long but outcalls?  I doubt it.

I doubt they would do that with an Indie but they may show an interest in a busy massage parlour to see if they should be registered for VAT.

They don't need to, all they do is make an assumption, say 2 clients a day @ £150 5 days a week and say 40 weeks a year, thus send her a tax demand based on £60,000 the pro$$ie then has a choice, pay up or produce her accounts  :sarcastic:

And the authorities now have sites like this where dated reviews are left with links to brothels that they could use to help them gather evidence. :hi:

Plus they can back date the tax of course they estimate is owed from previous years AND add penalties on top for not paying those previous years owed tax on time. Using A/W and/or the WGs site and punting sites they could gather the required evidence she was working as a WG for years. :hi:

The tax man does not assume 2 clients a day.  They work it out on an average hourly working week if you get caught and even those who are busy rarely do 39 hours a week every week.

All the ones who have their own website with a domain name paid for by credit card are damn foolish if they don't pay tax as I know that is how they catch you out as most when they start out don't hide their details on the Whois site so that takes the tax man straight to her door.

If he enjoys that site fair play. But catching a prossie working on her tax returns is total bullshit, must have been a fucking boring punt if it was true. Some prossies do pay tax, I have spoken to a prossie that said she declared herself as massage therapist. Whether she was lying or not - who knows? Who cares? What I find insulting is silly prossies that say how they have no money, but claim every benefit going, also prossies that claim benefits full stop.
