Not really paranoia about pimps, they can be frequently aggressive with punters as pointed out, but they can be trouble for WGs also, as a decrim campaigner pointed out; it's better for a WG to be fully independent, that way she is in full control of frequency of punts, who she sees, what she charges and services offered. Whereas working with a pimp, a WG is more likely to feel pressured to work, because the pimp wants his cut and more often than not pimps force or co-erce the WG to take clients so they can get paid.
As for safety concerns (this campaigner was an experienced sex worker herself) she said the AW booking system was a good start but screen clients by conversing with them on the phone at length when making the arrangements, that way you know beforehand if they seem off. But the best thing to do is decriminalise it, that way they can work in pairs or more out of the same place without fear of neighbours calling the police and the WGs can rely on the police if punts go awry.
Woman talked a lot of good sense.
