Sounds very similar to the walkup experience in London, Vivago. One minor correction regarding Soho. Nowadays the walkups have to be very circumspect in terms of advertising in the doorways. No more neon-lit signs; it is all very discreet and you can easily miss them if you walk past. Otherwise exactly as you wrote. Soho has some very good girls at the moment and might be worth a visit if you're in town any time soon and fancy a cheap quickie, though services there tend to be fairly vanilla.

Good report from Vivago as always. However some differences from Soho. Soho has a relatively small number of walkups and you literally have to walk up stairs, usually quite a lot of them, for the option on just one girl (or knock a different door on the stair for another girls. Athens 'walk-ups' are mostly ground floor or a vey short flight of stairs and there are hundreds of them. So you can 'view' a large number of options before chooses, just scoping a whole street with minimal footwork. In general, although they are  and miss, I'd say more Athens one are hits with often a relatively unrushed service and the Filis area often has nicer rooms, including waiting rooms, than Soho. Plus it's all above board (barring nominal technicalities). Only had one really crap experience and dozens of good experiences.

It’s crossed my mind too — but there’s so many it’s hard to generalise.

My instinct says use the smaller streets and all my best experiences in the area have been on the side streets rather than Filis itself (except for one, which was upstairs on a corner, but I think that was just bad luck). Have even had time run over occasionally and GFE once or twice so no complaints. I like the daytime and early shifts but after a pint a late night emptying of the ball bag I’m not so fussed. Even had a most hilarious one in run-down Kolonou (the other cheapie area). The walk-ups start about 11am. There are some amazing AirBnB deals in Athens, whereas hotels can have misleading adverts. I haven't tried outcalls in Athens as I like to see before I buy if I can, although I book outcalls in Brazil on rainy Sundays as it seems the most efficient. Some of the Studio girls are negotiable. No. Its not usually worth the hassle in Europe so I've not bothered.

I didn't realise that the Fylis walk-ins started that early. Is it all the battle hardened old veterans that open their legs for business that early?

Oh I wouldn’t generalise, not unless I’d been going every day for a month or two non stop! But the main thing I noticed is that fewer are open — I suppose because business is not so brisk. But it’s easy enough to check out ones that are or go for an early lunch and then go again.

This presents a memory problem (though I suppose you could write them down). With still so many to browse it feels a bit naff to walk into the same one twice and say no thank you (not that there’s ever any problem).

I was refused once by a stunning Russian girl who only accepted local people or something like that. I went back a few hours later when it was quiet and spoke to the mamasan nicely and the Russian agreed to see me (she was pretty good). The other thing I’ve done is without noting the numbers (which can seem a hassle given the quantity) noting the streets. They get familiar after a while but some look quite similar.
