EW does free entry when you book a hotel room with them. Top of my head, its 350 euros for 3 nights. 39 hours of shagging...

Been paying around £110 for decent hotel for 3 nights its now £650

You seem to have mistaken this site for TripAdvisor.

It took me literally seconds to find well over a hundred 4 star hotels in Berlin for less than £100 a night.

Your figures don't make any sense. If you were staying somewhere for 3 nights for £110 it must have been a pretty shit hotel in the first place, and no way is that now up by a multiple of 6.

The key is to start looking months in advance, and check every day once you've found a few that fit the bill. Eventually you'll find one that is available for way below the going rate.

Have you ever thought of, I dunno, maybe looking at other hotels  :dash:

Do you need help using this new-fangled internet thingy?

I can see dozens of city centre hotels under 250 for 3 night from this Wednesday on.

In fairness, many of them are miles from where you’d sensibly want to be. Berlin's safe and with great transport, but staying near the centre is a very different experience. Unfortunately the aficionados get a bit fluffy about it. It’s a great city, but not exactly bargain basement on demand.

Try AirBnB

Think I read somewhere recently that Berlin had banned or is in the process of banning AirBnBs.

They just tightened them up, and a good thing too.

Use private mode on your browser every time when searching for flights and hotels. You will find that it is cheaper than if you use normal browser settings as sites remember you.

Yes. Or just clear cookies and browsing data. And if you are a Mac user, avoid Safari. Doesn’t always work but at least it’s supposed to keep some false pricing at bay. I also prefer booking at night and weekdays.

However one gripe that bargain search engines haven’t solved is excluding shit agents. There’s one or two that I’ve had consistent problems with over the years and will no longer book with. It’s not very relaxing if you only get your boarding pass the day before you fly or the help centre is a busy line in the Philippines that only gives set answers even when you’ve spent wads trying to get through. It’s easy to say only book with the airline but that can be a balancing act price-wise.
