The owner was based in the US, where prostitution is illegal, also reason for shutting it down was due to child trafficking.. in the US backpage stopped having an escort section long ago and escorts in the USA advertised in the singles section. FBI can’t force US rules outside of the USA so AW and VS etc will stay.

That AW and VS will stay is by no means certain so to assert that they 'will stay' is merely conjecture. Yes, there is no jurisdiction for the FBI outside of the US but interagency cooperation does exist and it is almost a certainty that AW, VS and any other such sites will be under scrutiny.

AW have strict verification process, backpage didn’t. You know they are from the same address, how will AW know?  Are they expected to scroll through the millions of photos to find those with matching backgrounds? And tbh if law enforcement cared as much as you do they could do a quick two mins search and have everything they need. But reality is no one cares  about a few girls working from one place unless if they take the piss and neighbours complain. Only thing law enforcement are looking out for is forced prostitution and underage stuff.

The owner didn’t do enough to flag and remove / alert law enforcement despite several warnings that his site was being used to traffick minors. It’s something that has been going on for years with law enforcement they didn’t just randomly close it down one day, by all accounts they tried working with him and he did his bit to try and play ball by banning certain words but they felt it wasn’t enough.

Yes... just because once verified the images can be changed to show a different girl does not mean that the initial verification process is not stringent. The option for AW to guarantee no profiles get  swapped or became b&s would be to not allow girls to upload any new photos once verified, or to have to be reverified if they ever upload new photos.... considering it’s currently a freemium service I don’t think that’s likely to happen unless if they start hiring extra staff and finding new ways to cover the cost. So the current option of reporting is best and most reliable , but most people can’t be bothered to go through the process but if they did they would find that actually it works.

The fact a profile can come back as soon as its removed makes a mockery of the whole process.. at one point the dumb fuckwit of a pimp was creating a secondary profile even before the first one had been taken down.

technology is there to now only trace a profile back to the same IP but also the same browser, so they can work out of multiple profiles are managed from the same location

It’s not verified.... gets removed because it does not get verified, fact that the profile keeps popping back up only shows that nothing is 100% fail proof but still shows AW verification process is stringent. As you said tech is there to trace IP and device, people can always use different devices and different IP addresses... as I said nothing is 100% fail proof, you look to the ones that do the best to try and guarantee authenticity but if people want to try their luck on unverified profiles that show an alert then they have it coming.

Facebook still manually checks photo ID, and you think AW has the tech, or would take the risk considering it’s niche, to do automated age verification of photo ID?

If the "verification" amounts to a note from their mum saying they are overage then yes it can still be shut down.. there is no process to force girls to verify.

I'm sure the disclaimer says the girl has provided adult Id, not proved they are the girl in the advert

One other point to make, the reporting process reminds me of a pub that chucks someone out the side door, but then lets them walk straight back in the front door
