When on an early flight, I once used the Etap at the airport, but prices fluctuate depending on what's happening at the NEC. If there's a trade show or a gig, prices soar. Once had to pay £120 for an Ibis room when there was a gig, but 'normal' price was £65.

ALso used Premier inn near airport and there's another at Balsall Common, a few miles away by car.

Are there any problems with premier inn allowing a guest to come straight to your room ?

They generally have a door that needs a keycard before you get to the rooms.

So no chance of seeing an escort in a premier inn hotel

I've stayed at a few premier inns and the entrance is usually open between 7am and 9pm. outside those times you have to ring a bell for the reception staff. As long as she arrives between those times should be no problem with getting straight to your room without being stopped.

So the keycard is only needed to enter the hotel after 9pm ?

There are ways. I've seen several in such hotels.

Usually, the reception area of a Prem Inn has a stand displaying tourism leaflets. I've asked the girl to stand and browse, then I walk past, tap on the shoulder and she knows to follow you to the lift or stairs. Or meet in the bar, and she follows you in.

Once had a downstairs room and passed the keycard out of the window to a WG.

The ones i've stayed at have always been ring a bell for the attention of the reception staff at those times and they'd let you in rather than your key card operating the main entrance. Like i said during the day which from memory was 7am till 9pm you could get in without someone from reception having to let you in.

I usually use the Hilton Metropole by the NEC. About 15 mins walk through the NEC to the hotel, but usually quite busy and discreet. Multiple, unsecure entrances, so ideal for our guests. Pick the right day and you can get a decent room for £70, however as with most of the hotels around there, once a show or gig is on the prices rocket.

I recently managed to go online and travelodge Bham Airport was for only £33, plus £7 parking. I risked it and turned up an hour later and room was still available (10% more for walk-in rate). I was able to pay cash, but, as usual,  had to show ID. Access to room was using key cards, so if the girl is not with you, you'd have to come downstairs and meet her (you could always arrange to meet outside in the car park, and then walk in together. Lift are next to the entrance, so no long walk past reception/bar area).

Rate is flexible, depending on occupancy. Another night I checked it was £53.

I did manage to book a room for £29 last march  at premier in NEC brum:)  There wasn't any problem at all meeting the lady in reception because the lifts to the room are just to the left of the main entrance and before you get to the reception desk.  So no need to walk past reception

I use the Metropole. It's a bit pricey, especially the car park, but the rooms are excellent and it's very discreet. Perfect for calling in the laydees.
