The post below shows a profile for Katie, and was posted on here August 2011, the first link on the profile doesn't work, but the second does and drags up this profile, but the profile wasn't created till March 2012

Ok
Banning reason: Long suspected to be previously banned but now alleged to be posting fake positive reviews to pretend to be genuine

It looks as if they regurgitate names then, making links via name useless  :dash:

... and she hasn't logged in to AW for over a year now.

thought that was common knowledge here anyway? That's why guys are asked to add the links with the number, in case the name changes.

Once the lady's changed her name, the old one is eventually free for someone else to use.

Certainly not common knowledge to me and I thought I knew AW backwards. I've always thought the convention of posting both links was (a) convenience since the two links are situated next to each other on the page and it's just as easy to copy the lot (b) You can see the name part in one link, and the unique id in the other.

Seems odd to recycle names and could lead to massive confusion. Could they really get to a point where there is such a shortage of names they have to reuse old ones? When you add hyphens and underscores and all the other characters it must be practically impossible to run out.

The general consensus was that although it appears that you are copying and pasting ID number and the name cos they are next to teach other, it is her unqiue ID number that is more important. Even if a girl changes her name 10 times, if you search under her ID number, you will still find any posts relating to her, provided the original link contained her ID number.

Also, when searching using the ID Number, do not post the WHOLE link for it, but simply the 7-digit number, as your search is then using
the entire link you are searching with in order to find the SAME link on this site. (It is more complicated that there are 2 ways to post a link
using the 7-digit ID number:

https://www.adultwork.com/1507314
https://www.adultwork.com/ViewProfile.asp?UserID=1507314

Most people on this site end up searching using the first link, which then fails tp pick up any posts containing the same profile, but posted using the 2nd link. A search using "1507314" should pick both the above links.

But why would they care if a name was used in the past - they only need to know it's not a duplicate now. There have been plenty of instances of girls leaving AW and coming back. Allowing reuse of older names enables them (if they are lucky) to choose the same name for a new AW account. I'm not saying that's a great benefit, but I don't think it should be expected that old account names are blocked, especially when you can change the name as much as you like while the ID stays the same!
