the more they try to censor and block, the further underground they will push it, and the further towards all services being provided by the trafficked girls they say they say they are trying to protect.

if you want to clean something up, you shine a light on it so you can see what needs cleaning..... in other words do the opposite of what they are planning !

Absolutely, and similarly when they tried to stop the saunas in Edinburgh — no protection for the girls, no health visits, a lot of independent British girls stopped rather than risk the hassle, more Romanians moved in, more criminals. The prossie collective is already saying prossies arecsfraod to report crime as they get innocently targeted just for doing so. Prohibition era in America, same story and Al Capones.

The civilised thing is to regulate such things and stay on top of them, openly: the ludicrous way is to ban them so that criminals move in to make a profit from the gap in the market.

There's more repeats on xhamster than the bbc.
Download your favourites until the eeb sites circumvent restrictions.
As Pirate Bay quickly did.

This is basically "We must do this to protect the Children" legislation plus advancement of Commercial interests for the BBFC. It is also a fine example of flawed parliamentary legislation!

The BBFC a private body created by the film industry has been lobbying for years to be allowed to verify Web porn, for UK based Porn producers that happened a few years back along with a requirement for an age verification system based upon submitting Credit/Debit card details.  UK based porn producers have to submit any content they create to the BBFC for verification before they can put it up. The BBFC has a list of approved Sex acts and prevents producers depicting certain ones that whilst technically legal for you to do in your own home like Female ejaculation are taboo for them. The BBFC charges the producer for this 'Service'.

Of course only a few UK porn producers tried to comply only to be driven to the wall by foreign based websites, those that were not driven to the wall off-shored pretty promptly.

This was disappointing to the BBFC as they were not getting the revenue they expected and have ever since being lobbying for this to be expanded to Porn sites outside the UK.

These new rules require ALL porn sites to submit their content to BBFC verification, again at a cost and introduce age verification. If a website refuses then the ISP are required to Black list the site. How a Video upload site like xHamster or Red Tube is meant to do that realistically is anybodies guess! I believe xHamster is going to attempt to implement this policy, this will probably work by detecting the ip address of those accessing their website and redirecting you to a vastly sanitised stripped to the bone BBFC compliant version with age verification.

Of course with Proxies some people will circumvent that to access those sites. The vast majority of foreign porn providers will not bother at all considering the relatively small size of the UK market vs the rest of the world to bother going through the cost of being UK compliant. The sheer size of the internet and its speed of growth will make it unworkable for ISP to keep up blacklisting sites anyway. The ISP will be forced to implement bots to try and detect non-compliant sites which will lead to many embarrassing false positives as Sexual health and generally unrelated websites some even government owned get accidentally black listed!

It is all a colossal waste of time but the mere mention of "Protecting the children" was enough for the non-tech savvy MPs to vote this utterly flawed legislation through.

hard core scammers will move in on the verifications and take guys to the cleaners ,not a good idea imo

you may have to use a german or US proxy site to get free access

I`ll not have any problems.  I bought a cheap stand-alone 100 gig hard drive and I`ve completely filled it with downloads from all the best porn sites.  There`s enough there to keep me going for the rest of my days without bothering the Internet.

Online myothernameis

Think there still ironing out the small details, on how this will be done, so come 01 April are we going to find we don't have access to porn or sites with an adult nature

You would think, they would have the verification details out now, and how to register, if we all have to do this on 01 April, surely that web site will crash, under the number of registrations

Offline ico23

Wouldn't just using Tor as a browser work ?  I'm not a techie but doesn't that just hide your IP address ?

All that re-routing would slow your videos down I suppose which isn't good if you're on the vinegar strokes.

Offline Terryray

I read somewhere that 30% of the adult pop does not have a credit card,so 30% of adults will be treated like kiddie widdies from April.
It stinks!!!!!
Just as well i knew about this 18 months ago, twitter does have it's uses, and have been downloading porn ever since. This law has been mentioned a number of times on here too. I've got about 2 TB on flash drives, probably enough wank material for a decade or two.
Always good to have a backup plan.
Still time to do some downloading while you can.
as we are still in the common market lets play that card and fuxk these  nanny state people off

There no way I'm going to use my credit card to verify that I'm over 18, not unless it can be proven my details will be safe 100%
I'm with you- no way will I give CC details. This could be a hackers paradise getting our account details and who do they pass this on to afterwards. :hi:

Other thing, who will verify that the person with the credit card is over 18, so daddy's little boy, 16 yr old Johnny borrows his dads card, and now has access to porn

Completely agree with this considering the government's piss-poor record when it comes to IT projects and security in this area.

Would a VPN bypass this?

I am trying an extension to Chrome at the moment which is free called "Setup VPN" . It shows that I am in Japan :)

Offline Avg_Joe

it most likely will, we'll have to wait and see.

if you've ever bought any credit to see private galleries etc, it'll be a mute point as your account will be age verified anyway, so this is all a flash in the pan  :unknown:

Funny thing this internet anonymity and the VPN. I just turned the VPN on my laptop and found that I couldn't connect to
UKP! I got the message "Due to abuse from trolls, your internet provider has been blocked from accessing this site."
I turned the VPN off, and voila, I'm back in again.

So it seems that UKP has good security controls and has blocked access via a VPN - surely the porn websites may be asked to do the same thing after 01-Apr to prevent people like me from circumventing the Age Verification nonsense?
Can the government not make this a requirement for porn websites? Otherwise the law is toothless.

Personally I love watching porn, and am concerned about the new laws. Like another chappie here, maybe I should get a 1 TB data drive and just download as much porn as I can in the next two weeks.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but think you might have to contact admin, with regards using vpn to access ukp, I'm sure I have seen this in a thread somewhere

Thanks, but the point I was trying to make was that if UKP can block people who are using a VPN, then surely the big porn companies will do the same to stop people getting around Age Verification checks.

Offline Marmalade

High quality, legitimate porn is not exactly expensive. When you can download a couple of gigabytes for around a tenner, I think it’s hard to see people's obsession with known virus-riddled sites like porn-hub. UKP is free. Most things are not.

And the same dodgy company that owns pornhub is the producer of the age-verification software.

That's good news.

I've been trying to get my mobile verified by AW . Without success.

So I've resorted to buying a Pre Paid Credit Card. These are only available to over 18's so I'm hoping that it will do the trick.

I hope that it's not all a waste of time. At my age I could easily be dead by the end of the year       LOL

Panic Over (for the time being at least).  The Powers-that-Be have woken up to the fact that as is stands the bill will result in the pestiferous kids either using mummy`s and daddy`s cards (and in the process giving the hackers a treat) or simply turning to the dark web instead.  They are now hoping to have thought of another stunning brainwave by the end of the year.

Offline Thecunninglinguist

The government has announced that the scheme is to be put back until at least the end of the year because of fears that the company given the task of registration can't guarantee security of information. Looks like it might be kicked into the long grass?
