not only science-fiction spelling but presumably pregnant as well?

The problem is they've never seen the words they're writing written down before so they just write phonetically, but what I don't understand is why they should assume their spelling is correct?  There's a few words I always have to think about - embarrass, judg(e)ment, paraffin, parallel, jeopardy etc - but at least it crosses my mind that my spelling might not be correct (and I might look it up to check), but apparently not theirs.

Yes 'discrete' - nearly everyone gets that wrong.

I think that a well-educated EE (and there are a few on AW) might get the 'idiom' wrong, but after all I know of German children in their early teens whose written English is a darned sight better than what you'd get in most pro$$ies' profiles!

Doesn't bother me at all. The very fact that they're a prossie implies their spelling will not be very good. I am not there for a spelling contest or to discuss the finer points of English grammar.

This is not the case with all pro$$ies... Some of us can spell and are educated and literate..

Shouldn't your name be spelt insatiable Ellie concatenated?

Being Bristol based I've come across more than one profiles that offer a sensual "massarge"

It's not Ellie, it's Illie
What's that short for?
Illiegitimate, illieterate or illiegal?

No actually, I just kind of made it up on the spot years ago.. I hadn't given much thought to my working name and was asked it when making a profile with my first agency..

Fair enough.
I'm in no position to criticise anybody else's nickname as mine's pretty silly.

And here I was thinking you named yourself after the hottie from Spice Girls (well, in mid 90s anyway).

And I thought you must be from south east Australia [or south east Derbyshire!]

In south Australia I was born
