"The media frenzy around ‘pop-up brothels’ is a moral panic reminiscent of the days when people were encouraged to report their neighbours to the authorities if they suspected them of being gay. Gay men who called the police to report a break-in could find themselves being done for gross indecency, as happened to Alan Turing. Sex workers are similarly deterred from reporting violence or exploitation, when the most likely result of their coming forward would be the closure of their workplace, and possible deportation."

As it stands the Wgs get a raw deal with the pimps if they are not independent, but if a brothel was legal, would that mean it would change and be better for them, I doubt it, the scum bag pimps would still demand their cut and probably more, as they would have to pay tax with it being a legitimate business.

The "Media Frenzy" surrounding pop up brothels isn't motivated by a desire to tackle the problem of exploitation of women by otganised gangs its motivated by a desire to sell newspapers.
Prostitution will always exist. What needs to happen is a change in attitude towards those involved. Years ago the approach was to target the women arrest them and put them before the courts where they would usually receive a fine which they would pay by returning to prostitution.
I have no issue with targetting the gangs who force women into what is in effect sexual slavery. Arresting women for immigration offences when they have been trafficked by gangs makes no sense. The laws governing prostitution (except for a few amendments) remain unchanged from Victorian times.
Those involved in sex trafficking are organised criminals and need to be sentenced as such and where possible deported.

Having a laugh? How can they compare the antisocial nuisance of living next to a brothel to being a gay mans neighbour??
What a stupid comparison!
Gay men like Turing were decent honest men, who just wanted a quiet life and to be left alone in peace... instead became persecuted and tortured because of their biology

Pop up brothels exist to make quick money, without a care or consideration for the mess or late night noise they inflict on their neighbours
And can bring with them associated problems of violence and drug....not what u want in a residential street with families where kids play outside

No objection to the discreet English wgs who work from their own homes, who are considerate about neighbours, by not working late and ask punters to limit noise, litter etc.....but these  ones arent the issue!
