Very interesting. The whole market is insane and dare I compare it to the property prices in London, its a sellers market, lacking in product and quality, women are routinely able to ask for amounts that would have been baulked at a few years ago and there seem to be many punters willing to pay £400 plus for a possible average punt.
For those of us who've been punting for the 15 years plus the whole thing is surreal. Back then £250 was high end - sure there were more expensive SPs but the majority in my opinion stayed around and below that level and there seemed so many more sex workers to choose from. Crazy times and I doubt things will go back to what they were.
Agreed that things are unlikely to go back. The big question in my mind is when will prices stop escalating?
Taking London agencies as an example, £150 an hour was the usual rate for probably a decade or more, despite escalating rental and other costs. Now, with a seller's market (for various reasons, but mainly the double-whammy of Brexit and COVID together), prices are escalating. It was only a year or two back that £200 an hour became the new normal, already it is now £250 going on £300.
A new girl will look at what others are charging, and decide that if they can charge that much, why not her? For many years that kept prices fairly flat, but now it is instead causing prices to spiral. If one or two mugs cough up what she optimistically thinks she is worth, then that will justify that price in her mind. If she gets few customers, she will therefore more likely assume that there are not enough customers about, not that she is charging too much. So if she is not getting enough customers to give her the income she needs, she is more likely to give it up as a bad job, than reduce her price. Paradoxically the escalating prices could actually be limiting the numbers of new girls working - if there are insufficient punters prepared to pay those prices, they will drop out.
Normally in such situations, prices would drop, to balance supply and demand. However, this is unlikely to happen. For a girl to reduce her prices is psychologically very difficult - she is not worth what she thought she was. Who wants to admit that about themselves? Far easier to assume that there are not enough customers, too much competition, etc. to make it worthwhile.
