A private clinic in Mayfair at six p.m. is probably going to have a different demographic from that of a drop-in centre in Teesside at half nine on a Monday morning. However, since you asked in the SW region, I'm sure
what houseboot said is representative, especially when he said, "No one is bothered about you or anybody else."
My experience of a clinic in the SW is that most of the other men in the waiting area are under thirty, although I did once see a bloke who must have been in his late seventies. (No, it wasn't a mirror, thank you so much.) The range for women is wider, although there are more twenty-somethings than over-fifties. There are single women and couples, about half with infants, but few single men.
There are always more women than men. Sometimes I'm the only man there. I never get any looks at all, from anyone. (Then again, as any older man knows, somewhere around your fortieth birthday you cease to exist to the under-thirties except as a potential mode of transport or a particularly annoying obstacle.)
Also wondering what the women are like and don't say riddled.
The women look like normal women, to me. Perhaps a few years younger than average, maybe a little more subdued, certainly much less likely to be yelling QUITE as loudly as they do on the street about what Shazza said to Kazza last night on TowieEastEnd Neighbour Street or whatever it is; but otherwise your standard-issue woman.
By "riddled", I'd really like to think you meant, "My first is in your mouth but not in your arse; my second is etc. etc. and you can swallow my (w)hole, what am I?" but disappointingly, I suspect you meant, "Unclean! A pox is upon her! Burn the hag!" I don't know: you doctors and your medical terms.
There's a tendency to assume that most people are basically a lot like us and that their attitudes, concerns and experiences will be much the same as ours. In a sexual health clinic, that just isn't true. Women have more bits, and a lot of those bits are more complicated, and they can have ghastly things wrong with them that we men have never even heard of.
