Hi, I have a friend who is a WG and is looking to go on a tour in Edinburgh luckily for you guys up there as she is hot!! The problem is she is struggling where to stop can any of you recommend a place to stop? She is wanting to be in the Edinburgh area but also wants some where good to get to which has parking and isn't to expensive. There is no point a wg coming on tour in august as hotels double their tariff, as do holiday flats, but a wg I know, liked using jury inn, near the station and with a possibility of access without reception seeing. For doubled rates actually read tripled or qaudrupled with a knock on effect as far as Glasgow. Slightly cheaper accommodation can be found in the sticks but the corresponding amount of willing punters would still make a tour uneconomical. Do you really think that journos, plod etc. have not heard of, and in fact read, SAAFE, UKE and all the other sites we use in this pastime of ours. Well if they didn't know of SAAFE they certainly do now that you have mentioned it on here.
With regards to hotel names the plod will not go to a hotel unless they get a complaint of someone misbehaving. They certainly don't have the time to go and search hotels looking for possible WGs
The management in hotels know full well what is going on in all the rooms, but provided all is peaceful and quiet and no one is complaining will completely ignore what goes on behind closed doors.
So all a WG has to do is conduct her business in a hotel with a modicum of decorum and she will hear nothing from the management.
As long as rooms make profit for the place and you are not upsetting other guests or breaking the fixtures and fittings you can pretty much do as you please.
