Is there any general consensus here the correlation between Religious symbol and punting? What I have seen so far it is just a nice necklace, jewellery.  Like other have said in Asia many girls are wearing a gold cross necklace. But if ask them it is just a piece of jewellery, they are not Christion though. May happies are wearing Buddhist necklace.

My conclusion sofar, there is not any corealtion between punting with Religious symbols.

I think you would have to ask them if they are religious and if they say 'Yes!'. Then that is the answer, there is no need to go further and ask, 'Why are you in the job etc?'

Personally, I think many are religious but not in the conventional way that many like to think.

Interesting to note that all those showing "religious" symbols are showing christian symbols. Are there no muslim or jewish or hindu etc. WGs? Or perhaps they don't want, or are scared, to flout their religion in this business. I know that Islam takes a far dimmer view of its women in this industry than most other faiths do. Don't know anything about the others. Food for thought.

A christian cross is a bit of a fashion statement nowadays, as opposed to a religious symbol. WGs are unlikely to wear islamic symbols, as they are unlikely to be devout muslims. I'd venture that the ones that do wear symbols probably take them off when they are working.
