I think you are right, they do take throat swabs but STI is just much less likely in the mouth than the genitals.

Punters give oral a lot I suspect there is very little STI mouth infection. Punters I'm guessing always (99.99) use condoms because the risk is so much higher.

However having said that, there is a lot of evidence growing that oral sex is a  factor in mouth and throat cancers. See NHS quote below

I think we are both right but I do accept that the term 'natural environment' was not the best phrase to choose.
