I know many of us keep a separate phone for punting. Question is where do you keep it away from the prying eyes? I am finding this more difficult to deal with than the punting money. Money, if found could be explained by saying 'saving up for ur b'day etc'. What the hell do you say when when an extra phone is found in the house. Advise please...

Sounds tricky to me.... surely the contacts are all still on the same phone???

Also I have a rather expensive phone but would not like to take that when punting.

I remember seeing in pulp fiction the story about butches fathers watch, his dad kept it up his arse, could this be the way forward with your punting phone,  :D

You dont necessarily have to buy another phone, just another Sim card which a few punters have said they keep in the battery area of their existing phone, if thats no good you must be able to hide a tiny Sim card somewhere at work or in your car, shed or garage. Obviously check if you can change Sims.

Personally i use an old basic phone thats second hand for punting, i keep it in a locked draw at home, but i havent a nosey partner who is going to go looking for it. And its worth fuck all so not worth nicking by any dodgy SPs.

If you do use a smart phone make sure you dont leave a trail for your partner to pick up. Some of these all whisting phones can track you and do all sorts which arent conducive to a secretive pastime like punting.

The correct term for the punting phone is 'ShagPhone'

I've mainly used my normal phone for punting... It's not been entirely problem free doing it that way so having a second phone is good but as you say hiding it can be!

I keep my second one and just say it's a spare in case my main phone breaks down.... It helps if you have a few more laying around to put anyone off the scent :)

Kinda remember this...  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/08/prisoner-phone-butt-sri-lanka_n_2646714.html

x-rays are good  :D

Might have to investigate this. Nothing worse than taking the dog out for a walk, calling a few WGs to arrange a visit and then getting texts all night from them saying "Sorry i missed u hun xx". Try explaining that to the wife!

Haha, tell me about it!!!

Too long for my story here but good point smiths, well worth considering if using a smart phone for punting :)

Ha! That's a different debate! The requirement was a solution to needing two phones. If there's also a requirement for keeping out prying eyes, get one of these secret store apps which look like something else but when you press on a particular area, a secret cache of goodies (porn, phone numbers, confidential SMS) pops up

I have one i bought it on a flybe flight   in practice it works but in in real life all the instructions are in french or russian  or something  i did work out the you had to press 1 for sim 1 and 2 for sim 2 and you can set up different ring tones so that you know which number is calling you

easy way is to buy a sim card the same as your contract phone and put that in to make an appointment with and then hide it somewhere

oh and if you have smart phone /iphone then its pretty easy for anyone who isn't even that techie to figure out where you have been / who your texting ect  plenty of tracking apps  that will send stuff to other phones   So  always have a pin on it and set it so that it delete everything after 3 entries

Don't back it up on the home pc either  especially if other half has a iPhone  ( unless you know what your doing and know how to modify certain stuff )
Don't sync everything either in particular to iCloud because all your stuff can quite easily end up on your other halves  phone / iPod  iPad
Set in private browsing on your iPhone

In fact if your other half has a iPhone then don't get one  get a blackberry or samsung as at least they wont sync

Or at the very least a different apple ID, as an apple freak it was the safest option for me but I've got most things turned of on it and it will delete after 10 attempts

All true and well advised by ParisB - particularly thd iCloud syncing shit, modern technology is scary shit.

I just leave my cheap punting phone in the office.

I used to hide it in the rear-lights unit in my car. Pop it in a waterproof bag and it only needed one, hand-turned screw do dismantle. I was rarely apart from my car and the gf struggles often enough with her fucking seatbelt, never mind anything 'mechanical'.

It can be a bloody hassle though, and I'm starting to think that with all the security innovations on the iPhone I might consider giving up the punting phone as I feel the risk of it being found might be greater than her rooting on my regular phone.

Sounds more like the way backwards to me!! Mind you, if you talk out of your arse then it's an ideal arrangement.

How do you respond to a call when on public transport, particularly if the 'phone is in "vibrate" mode?

I don't trust Apple and the whole tracking/location stamping thing worries me - though I know fuck all about it I'm sure others do and could nail me.

I am happiest with my PAYG SIM bought for cash put in a £20 second hand phone also bought for cash from our local money-for-your-stuff shop.  Only number I have in it is the WG, deleted after.

Watch out as sometimes when I turn it on I get a few texts saying "hi how are you" from quiet WGs.

Best Investmewnt I ever made..... bought a SIM only for £10 approx 13 years ago (yes, they were £10 for a SIM Card in those days).

Like Smiths, I use a Basic Nokia Phone as my punting phone, or Shagphone as Philboi says.

It is a PAYG SIM, and a £10 credit can easily last you moire than a few months.

The Phone remains at work and switched off most of the time. When switched on it is PIN locked,
so no one else can access it, even by chance.

As it is a strictly punting phone, I have in excess of 60~70 numbers stored on them. All the WGs are
listed by City name first, so easy to identify.

I actively encourage the WGs to store my number, especially those touring in my area, so that they
can inform you as to when they are next visiting your city.

Finally, as a result of asking them to store my number, it is amazing how many cold call texts I receive,
in terms of any specail offers, specail deals etc from those girls.

A regular WG recently text me to say that as it was a quite period, she could do me a 2hr deal for £160.
(Her normal rate is £120 for 1hr, £220 for 2hrs). Ocassionally, when a WG changes her number, she
is likely to inform the punters who are in her contact list.

Some punters may not be comfortable with receiving unsolicited texts (or even phone calls),  but I enjoy
receiving them, even if it is to just read and delete.

I would actively suggest to punters to follow this route, as it also minimises chances of timewaters,
as most of my punts are now with WGs who are already in my contact list.

Due to time, upgrades and improvement in phones, I have a iPhone 4 as a punting phone, (with a PAYG sim). It is registered to a Apple ID that neither the Mrs or kids have access to, or indeed knowledge of). As senility sets in, it is nice to have a photo of a prossie next to her name and number. As far as wifey is concerned, it is just a work phone and it is password protected. I can still check AW, use the maps to find a location. and of course make calls.

If I ever lost it, I could use the Apple "Find My iPhone" on my laptop and erase all data.
