Author Topic: Orange (EE) blocking Adultwork  (Read 7081 times)

Just thought I'd give people a heads up on this, in case anyone makes a booking and is relying on AW for the contact number.

I was out and about the other day and decided to take a look at AW for a possible last minute punt only to find that AW was blocked! This was before the DDOS. I've had the same contract for years and have always been able to access adult content. I think it said I needed to go into one of their shops to get adult content unblocked, ffs!

Has anyone else found that Orange/EE are blocking adult contact on their contract phone?

I also heard that the government was talking about getting ISP's to block adult content by default and only enabling it on request. Bad news for married blokes. It would be pretty obvious that you'd turned it back on to feed your porn addiction, or worse ;)

Came across this a long time ago with orange and another network had to go in produce id to prove over 18 problem was then resolved at the click of a button

adult viewing is an option, which the default is blocked but not sure where or how to unblock it, did it years ago

Yes, I joined EE a few months back and had a nightmare with content lock with aw and ukp, for no warning it would lock adult content
I rang 150 and normally in a few mins it was rectified but on the odd occasion it would be on all night
Just recently it's been ok and I can access both normally although aw is down at the mo I don't think that's to do with EE

If content lock does appear again just ring 150 from your phone and it should be cleared straight away abc they don't ask you what your trying to veiw

o2 have been blocking adult sites every now and then for a couple of years, though i havent got a contract phone, its PAYG. Either pay a £1 by credit card or go to an o2 shop was what i was told i had to do. I went to a shop and by the time i got home the block was lifted.

However, the same block occured a further two times, and as i sadly dont get younger as time goes by i gave a manager a real roasting, he immediately lifted the block.

I imagine all companies will eventually do this and people will have to actually select adult content.

If asked, mention gambling sites or bingo sites, etc.

I think I unblocked it years ago too, but this was online, not in a shop.

I don't know why they suddenly decided to block it again. If I was on a punt with no numbers written down, this could have messed it right up.

Well you've obviously got more front than me, going in there demanding that your porn is turned back on! :D

Thanks. I think that's the way to go, punting is a gamble of sorts anyway. I just hope they don't look at my browsing history on their proxy.

Good one!

If asked I was going to say e harmony or something similar and tell them I was supposed to be on a date with a hot blonde and add HOW THE FUCK DO EXPECT ME TO FEEL line, but they never asked  :)

Hehe, whatever your excuse you know they're not going to believe a word of it!

You might as well tell them you like to watch porn on the train on the way home from work and fap off in the toilet. This is what they're thinking anyway :P

I don't know why anyone would bother lying to your network carrier? They don't give a shit what you look at, so long as it's not illegal. When I switched carrier, I found out that AW and other sites were blocked, so I rang cust support and said I'd like adult content bar lifted. They said no problem, can take up to 4hrs to come int effect. By the afternoon, any adult site I went to redirected to "Three Adult Content" webpage. I rang them again and said I wanted ALL the restrictions lifted. They asked what do I mean, so I simply said "I don't want to be redirected to your porn sites, I want to be able to look at ANY porn site I choose". Again, they said no problem, wait 4hrs. 2hrs later everything is fine.

Of course, plus if like me and you the block came after you had already been accessing adult sites they know anyway. I just said i wanted access to adult content again and didnt specify why, thats not something i needed to discuss with them and they didnt ask on any ocassion why in any case. ;)

You just have to enter credit card details to prove age they attempt to claim 1p but don't by not being refused the first application they know its valid - simples

They need to change their name to EEEP (Everything Everywhere Except Porn).

I was with them on broadband a week but gave up with phone and sent the products back - shit signal and shit customer services - phone didnt work - at 11th hour found they ported my number to the damn wifi unit instead of phone then tried to refuse to accept return saying over 7days due to distance selling - wankers!

I had all evidence tho - see em in court if they try and play games further!

I had mine unblocked ages ago, but now they've blocked it again and told me I have to pay a fee to have it unblocked.

I find that mine ends up blocked again occasionally, but that switching off the phone for a few minutes and then back on will clear it - so I presume it's a glitch at the time. I think they block all internet forums by default as requiring age verification now, so you're not admitting to them that you are visiting 'adult' sites by asking for the block to be lifted.

Mines a contract phone, so they obviously know I was old enough when I got it, so I've never needed to pay to unlock
My punt phone was a payg O2 phone which was locked and they wanted something for it
I since bought a sim only contract on t-mobile (again orange) but this has never suffered a block, it was for me only EE.

Offline Lz-129

Incidentally, if you are blocked and using iPhone (and possibly others)  and can't get to a shop or unlock it
You get around the block using opera mini, font ask me why or how but it works differently to other browsers and should be able to access ukp and AW

Offline Phantom

Just a heads up for content lock.

When a price plan is changed or upgraded there's a 2 part content lock system on ee/t-mobile and likely orange too.

A moderate content lock setting is automatically added to plan changes. Especially moving between the 3 brands

I think this is what's been causing all your issues.

As far as I'm aware only calling 150 or going to the store can remove this as only the 1st level lock is removed via the website account

son_doobie

dunno if this works for all networks but I use giffgaff which runs on o2 who have adult content blocked, but I use opera mini which somehow bypasses the filters, like i say works for me dunno bout others, good luck

Offline Lz-129

Fucking locked out this morning, I can only access this via opera,
Ee is a shite service and I can wait to leave, thoroughly pissed off
And what makes it worse is i gotta till 8am to call them to resolve it :dash:

Offline Stiltskin

I wonder why it works using Opera? Doesn't make any sense. Can you access AW?

If I remember correctly, opera proxies everything through their own servers, so wouldn't be affected by filtering by Orange.

So does that violate rule #3?
I've never understood proxies and shit like that really
Eventually got through to ee and they have agreed if I want to cancel the contract.... Hmm
