Report from Budapest - Some punting and travel advice

[Cunning Punt]

Summary:
My punting experience to date has essentially been southern England and was curious about punting abroad. Sadly I don't have the libido to punt every day or even two days, so a dedicated punting trip or visit to the clubs of Germany are not options. I decided to test the water on a city break to Budapest.
As I'll explain, it's not easy punting in the city and requires a lot of work. I would have liked two punts but only managed one in the end.

Getting there:
Whizz Air flights from Luton seem to be the cheapest to Budapest. There are plenty of hotels and apartments for £30-£40 a night.
Currency is the forint. At the moment there are just over 300 HUF to the £1, but you won't get that at Ferenc Liszt Airport - avoid.
Budapest has 23 districts (listed in Roman numerals) within two areas of the city, Pest -the main part - and Buda, which are divided by the Danube.

Getting around:
There is a decent metro system in Budapest, as well as buses and trams. Some buses run 24hrs. It costs 350HUF for each part of your journey - if you get off any mode of transport, you need another ticket. Carnets and travelcards are available.
Budapest is notorious for scamming taxi drivers so do not hail a cab in the street. Call one and check the price. Fo Taxis (tel. +36 1 222 2222) is the main operator and has fixed prices for fares to the city centre from the airport or alternatively, take the 200E bus to Kobanya-Kipest and get on the M3 (blue) metro line for 2 fares of 350HUF ie a couple of quid in total.
Streets are well signposted above head height with the range of numbers in each block also listed, which is extremely helpful. When an escort sends you her location, note that addresses are often given in reverse order - ie district, street and then house number. Utca (ut for short) means street.

Phones etc:
I did try calling and texting a couple of escorts when I was in Budapest from my punting phone, without success. This could have been because they were busy but the advice from other punters on UKP and ISG (External Link/Members Only) is to get a Hungarian telephone number, rather than using your English phone, because the escorts are likely to just ignore your foreign number and you risk not getting anywhere.
This means getting an Hungarian SIM card, which isn't easy. Due to anti-terrorism legislation, all holders of IM cards must by law be registered. Therefore, if you don't want to give your personal details, then you may have problems punting in Hungary.
You will need your passport and driving licence. I went into the Vodafone shop with only my passport and they said they could still give me a card but I needed to give them my mother's address. 
So I went back to the hotel and got my licence! 

There are 3 telecoms companies in Hungary - Vodafone, T Mobile and Telefnor. You can get a SIM card and basic package with calls, texts and mobile data for 3,500HUF. There is a Vodafone shop at the airport, so you can save time by getting this sorted out as soon as you get off the plane.
After spending time sorting the SIM card out, I then discovered I couldn't use it in my punting phone because it's locked on Tesco and you need a code. 
Cue yet more time fruitlessly searching for solutions, so it's worth checking whether your phone is locked some time before you go.
Fortunately, my number one phone isn't locked but mixing escorts numbers and texts with numbers and texts from my 'normal life' was not exactly ideal.

Searching for escorts:
The Hungarian equivalent of AW is Rosszlanyok - External Link/Members Only
My advice is do some research before you go out to Hungary and try to identify escorts you are interested in, do the services you are interested in and the length of booking. Beware of escorts who describe themselves as 'Non Stop' - apart from the fact they could be knackered, this term also suggests they are pimped.
Look for escorts that have reviews and avoid the ones who haven't or, even worse, do not want reviews. Escorts have to accept reviews before they appear on their profile page so open up any 'Refused' ones.

If you Google translate, the reviews come out as gibberish as Hungarian is such a complicated language that is unlike others. Some reviews are written in English and often say how they got on communicating with Hungarian escorts.

You can search on Rosszlanyok for escorts who list English as a language but that doesn't mean they speak it - just that they are happy to take bookings from us. Some do have a short message in English on their profile, which is a start.
If you join the Rosszlanyok site, you can send messages to escorts. I sent several messages asking about prices (which aren't listed) and services. However, I got only had a handful of responses, which all looked like stock replies. A couple just said 'call me' and others just the prices.

Prices:
The very few responses I did get from escorts, quoted me incall prices ranging from 13,000-15,000HUF for 30mins and 20,000-30,0000HUFfor an hour. 30,000HUF/hr is just under £100 so about the same as a Hungarian escort in the UK - it defeats the point of punting there, in my opinion,, so if she quotes you that, certainly for incall, she is taking the piss because you are a foreigner - and if she quotes euros, she certainly is.
As always, it's advisable to check for extras at various stages of contact.

Comms:
Very few escorts in Budapest seem to be able to speak English. Most of the Hungarian girls who can speak English and are prepared to be a prostitute are working over in this country.
I suspect many other escorts will not take a booking with non-Hungarian speakers and the language issue is, from what I can deduce, a major barrier to punting in Budapest.
When I was over there, I asked one escort in Hungarian over the phone if she spoke English and she replied "No, sorry" and put the phone down, so texting is likely to be the best bet and you can at least get prices and services confirmed. The one punt I did arrange while in Budapest was done through texting or SMS as she called it.

The one meeting - HannaBaba18:
When I phoned Hanna and started speaking in English, she simply said "SMS" so I sent her a text asking her prices for 30mins and 1hr, stating I wanted "csók a nyelv" (kissing with tongues). She responded with her prices (15,000HUF for 30mins and 25,000HUF for an hour) but didn't confirm FK specifically, so I decided to take a gamble on that.
We then arranged a time and she sent me her full address, which was a small flat near Keleti railway station in District VII. I texted on arrival and she came down and let me in.
I was given a towel and ushered to the bathroom for a shower, which was clean. Unfortunately, she did not have a proper bed but a sofa bed without a mattress so was uncomfortable because of the ridge.
Hanna doesn't speak any English and uses Google Translate. During the meeting, we got by with hand gestures. FK was reasonable.
When she went to put on a condom, I asked her about "natur francia" (OWO) but she replied it was "extra" which is obviously a universal prossie term. Her BJ technique was fairly rudimentary, just up and down with head turned.

So I wouldn't say there is no point getting a Hungarian SIM - as has been mentioned in posts on here and ISG by punters who have been to Budapest, it does vastly increase your chances of setting up a punt.

However, all in all, as I said in my report, it can be a lot of hard work.

As regards whether the Budapest escorts are more likely to speak German, I couldn't say. Having seen comments elsewhere, I have seen a couple of punters mentioned that they conversed through basic German because the girls didn't speak any English.

in hungary you will never see the price written, you have to ask the WG.

I got Max M SIM with Vodafone - 500 for card, 3000 for 100MB of data (which didn't last very long) and 100mins of text/calls.

Cheers mate.  It's useful to have an idea in advance. I don't mind paying for a mid-range hotel but resent doing so just for wifi (plus it's usually cheaper hotels that are gf). I've cut down on data use a bit by downloading streetmaps of an area from googlemaps before I go but good get to know as many options as possible.

I agree, tried it. But so far have found downloaded googlemaps faster and easier to integrate. I can download an area to a smartphone before I visit a city then delete it afterwards to save space. I've used kmz's (customised googlemaps) for big cities that are more complex -- I think someone made some for Germany as well (was it you?). There's quite a few worldwide when you do a search. I also find I like just a piece of paper sometimes.

in hungary you will never see the price written, you have to ask the WG.
