Let's not forget they make maney off the scammers.
i.e. All these profiles that only sell 'private gallery pic's' A.W. take a percentage of money drawn for the sales, I think it's 30%.
So there's not a massive incentive to clear the scammers out.
They have to be seen to be doing something, rather than actually doing it.  ;)
I agree on the point of the site's new speed, much better now.

I agree with what you say, but do find the adultwork approach somewhat puzzling.
Obviously it is in their best financial interests for adultwork to turn a blind eye towards the scammers as adultwork no doubt make many £thousands monthly, but almost each time we catch a scammer out and report them, adultwork remove them.

What automated technical innovations could be implemented if they had a will to? Automatic comparisons on TinEye? Automatic suspension if advertisers claim to read emails but persistently fail to do so without reasonable cause (such as making a phone number available at least some of the time.) It's one thing to say they ought to do something about it. It would be a much stronger case if we are able to say exactly what. They are not a auto-censored with a few pissy little FRs. They are a providing a massive, largely automated system with thousands of FRs and between 10 and 20 thousand advertisers. To vet something like that adequately might - I don't know - require either massive manpower or the type of expensive security that is used by credit card companies in running their businesses. It doesn't take much to see both of those would be disproportionate and could put Adultwork out of business.

I think their Verified Member programme is a step in that direction but understand the reluctance of some to reveal ID to off-shore whoremongers... but i fthey are withdrawing funds from their Private Gallery/Movie/Erotica accounts, then bank details are already known...

It would appear that AW probably can't be bothered trawling through ads, testing their authenticity. They are happy raking in the money from private galleries etc. Yes they do take 30% of any revenue earned, which is quite a large chunk and the reason that most genuine SPs use their private galleries to fund their advertising(phone number display). The verified scheme is/was a good idea but if you chose not to have your verified photo on the front of your profile it's pretty useless in any search(my verification photo is still available, it just isn't on the front of my profile).

They are a site who's interests are their own, but I guess that also comes from running such a wide-reaching business too.

Punter's money goes to AW first. They then send a cheque to the service provider on request once a certain amount has built up and after making deductions, so it's not necessary to give them bank details.

Just their real name on the bank account and their address... same difference?  Recall the cancelled cheque an Voila! the whole ball of wax.

Not being argumentative but AW, if pressed, knows who their SPs are... but maybe not the seekers (aside frm volunteered into like town and phone number)

As far as I can tell this is worthless and poor window dressing at best. There are plenty with totally FAKE pictures which they will remove if you point it out, how they get the status in the first place is highly questionable IMO (i've seen it happen from being removed to returning as Verified within a few hours so the checking must be pretty extensive). A picture of the Prossie with the piece of A4 is much more reassuring, assuming it bears a slight resemblance.

Here's an example, now inactive.

A brand new verified profile that came online recently as verified yet the following pictures are 'borrowed' from the Net. This is just one of many examples.

If you trust this ...

I suggest you think again.

Here's the webpage from which the 'Private Gallery' pictures came and the 'Verified' member wanted 1.5 credits for you to view.

The problem is that the Verified Scheme only makes it worse for those who are genuine. I'm verified but don't want my photo right on the front page, this means I can't be distinguished from fakes who do have their face photo upfront. In fact a search for 'Verified' profiles will bring up the fakes(who aren't bothered if their faces are shown because they aren't real anyway) and not myself.

My own fault for not having my face pic obvious you might say - but also a sign that all the Verified scheme does is promote the wrong people.

Not at all, perfectly understandable if you want a degree of anonymity. In some ways profiles that display a face picture (particularly as the number one profile picture) can actually appear more suspect IMO, but then I'm suspicious of everything. Pix that are for want of a better term 'Porn' again should raise the alarm bells. Most Fakes are pretty easily spotted whether you get a Tineye hit or not, I'm not going to go into anymore detail than is already in our Adultwork Guide but there are many things the genuine girls can do that the fakes can't. It's particualrly bad news for the women just starting out as the feedback helps immensely from a Punters POV, but even that can be faked to a certain extent but usually stands out like a sore thumb.

Its' a scourge and blight on all genuine Punters and Prossies that Adultwork contains so many bogus profiles but it's the price that has to be paid as it is for what is a pretty efficient and cost-effective (cheap) way for us all to get together for business which is the point of it all.
