Author Topic: Verified punters  (Read 3350 times)

Hi all,

I was thinking about how one way to identify a scammer is by reading through the profiles of reviewers to check for weird text or low feedback. It's something that lots of us do on this forum and it seems quite effective.

I was wondering then, do you think having verified punter profile on AW would help to identify scammers quicker? The punter would need to share some form of ID with AW which not stored or published but just verified by the AW staff.

The biggest benefit would be that it makes it easier for people to create fake profiles. The downside would be that if it were optional then there might be low take-up and if it's mandatory it would just scare off many people.

Any thoughts on this? Or other ideas to help separate the scammers from the good WGs?

Thanks

There is zero chance of me providing ID to AW, and I suspect the same is true of most punters.

Having said that, I haven't punted through AW since last summer anyway.

Totally ridiculous idea, it is bad enough that they have my credit card details.     :scare:

No way would I share anything with AW or a WG, sorry.  If I find out their real names or go to their family address that's their problem.  I won't share mine willingly.

Its the pro$$ies that need to stop taking the piss with their profiles IMO, not the punters.

Fair enough, thanks for your feedback guys.

There must be some way to solve the problem of fake feedback but hopefully the AW team are working on it...

The owners of A/W have shown me over many years they couldnt care less about helping punters, i have zero faith in them. I use the site as a location tool only as its by far the best there is.

To be fair, exactly the same could be said for auto-censored.     :hi:

Sometimes it's just embarrasing.  It's up to you to discover that Gentleman12345 and Hornyboydam etc.. seem to punt the same girls as a trio  :unknown:

Yes, you can forget that. Share ID - you must be crazy.

I've got to the point that I don't contact anyone on AW if they haven't got a phone number displayed. Sometimes I'd email to ask for one, but that's all.

Getting involved with that site with all the scamming and obvious vulnerability to attacks is a no no. I wouldn't book an appointment on there either these days.

I have never had a problem using my C/C on Adultwork, they make a fortune already, no need for C/C fraud.

Its not the fraud its the small chance there is some kind of comeback from the credit card company as in a letter to home, some kind of anti-fraud check or just a wayward statement...tho' they are supposed to be online one still turns up out of the blue sometimes.

If you're single and free it's less of a worry but you never know with those bastard banks.

I think someone hacking AW's database to get the CC details is a real possibility. We've already seen intent to attack AW with the recent DDOS, plus AW does not seem to care too much about security as the login pages are not secure (HTTPS)

I purchased a washing machine, some new threads and topped up my AW credits before getting a phonecall from the fraud squad.  "Just to verify your credit card activity sir, an amount of £x to CurrysPcWorld, £x to MrPorter.co.uk and........
£5 to.... A Work?

I agree, i most certainly wouldnt risk scumbags like A/Ws owners having my personal information, not in a million years.

My Mrs gets a call from her bank (same as mine) when she tops up her mobile for £30 - every time it happens.

Bjeezuz imagine if I was sitting next to her "oh that £30 on my card, yes that's legit....I'm fucking Sweet-Lory next Monday so had to look at her PG!!!!

That would not be an option anyway, you have stated numerous times that you would not pay them a penny.   :hi:

I know some of my mates partners do, nosy parkers, and the guys just accept it. If a partner opened mine she wouldnt ever so again, she would be for the chop or agrees never to do so again.

Of course she does - they all do. Or nearly all.

Anyone who thinks they don't or won't is living in cloud cuckoo land.

When a friend of mine was divorced it came out that she'd checked the mileage on his car every day and compared it with where he said he'd been, and she checked his wallet every time he went to the bathroom to monitor his spending. He hadn't done anything untoward, but all the questions he faced in court about what he'd been doing on a particular day years before made it look like he was hiding something because he just couldn't remember in such detail.

This is because fraudsters commonly use this method to check if they have correct card details and if there is funds available in your account.

Because mobile top up is so mainstream the best way now for banks to check it is not a fraudulent transaction is to contact the customer.

I had a situation where someone tried to do fraud on my account in this way, they had made 2 mobile top up transactions then they tried to purchase goods in America. My bank didn't call me when they did the top up but when they tried to purchase goods in america they freezed my account and contacted me.

Funny thing at the time I only had a contract phone so if my bank had called me like how they call your wife it would never have got so far.
