Not only that, but if you were born in the USA they will not accept you entering the country with any other passport than a US one. They check the country of birth, and Boris Johnson was famously refused entry with a British Passport a few years ago because he was born in the US. So he was separated from his family (who were allowed in) and had to fly straight back to Europe.
It's there PC - pedantic cunt - attitude.
They will even refuse to let you transfer until you give them a US address where you are staying.
"Where are you staying in the United States of America?"(always said in full - is that practice in case they forget? or they just like showing off a long fucking name?)
"I don't have one I'm just changing terminals to get to South America. btw I'm from the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland."
"What is the purpose of your visit to the United States of America?"
"I'm not visiting, just changing planes." (like to go somewhere other than yourbureaubloodycratic country thank you)
They have all these impossible questions to try and catch you out - and prevent terrorism. They can't let you pass without something to write in the box as your answer.
you staying - the name of your hotel."
"I don't have one. If I say Disneyland or Elvis Presley's memorial home will that do?"
"Which is it?"
And that, apparently, will do.
I then had a ten hour wait for my connection. Fortunately America also makes Starbucks. And this one had very comfortable chairs.
