It's not always cynical; I've had several girls tell me they like me and have been offered some quite brilliant rates for futures dates (without asking).
Even if I'm not offered a discount quite often it means that the next time I see a girl she's more relaxed around me which I think is always pretty key to having a successful date.
Sounds like you may have it in perspective. It's quite pleasant to be liked by those one does business with, though not the most important thing (politeness is number 1, together with actually providing the service to an acceptable or above-acceptable standard).
It's not a 'date' but I'm aware that Americans use that term for a punt, so I will try not to gag.
What not to do is imagine she means more than 'like' or hink she wants to date you (in the English sense of he word). I've dated several WGs in the past and not once did it slip gradually from being a paying customer to being their bf. But, like you, if they like you enough as a customer they may frequently extend the time and try to offer better service over and above their norm. I'm not saying this is right, but it happens and it is not something I pay for, in money or in kind.
